Just what the title says really! We are a family with 2 kids .. aged 16 and 9. So far, we know we want to see the Sagrada Familia and the Picasso museum. We are staying close to Las Ramblas and will be there for two full days in June. Anyone got any other must dos for us please?

Park Guell, lovely

Mañanarama · 07/01/2023 13:42

Definitely Parc Guell. The Casa Mia building at sunset (La Pedrera?), the musical fountain, cable car, beach/marina.

I’m itching to take my kids to Barcelona, gotta be one of the best cities for a family break, enjoy!

Mañanarama · 07/01/2023 13:43

Oh, and eat plenty of fresh churros from the local looking backstreet shops, so much better and cheaper than the tourist traps!

creaturecreep · 07/01/2023 13:44

Sensi restaurant.

Barcelona cathedral

Parc Guell

Museu nacional d'art de catalunya

ThePoshUns · 07/01/2023 13:45

The indoor market on Las Ramblas, gorgeous food displays

ThePoshUns · 07/01/2023 13:47

If you're only there for 2 days I'd do the open top bus tour , you can hop on and off and will see a bit of everything.
If you do Oarc Guel you need to book a slot in advance or you'll be queuing for hours

midsomermurderess · 07/01/2023 14:07

I didn’t know you had to book Parc Guell now. Poor Barcelona, very much a victim of its own success.

ThePoshUns · 07/01/2023 14:19

That was a few years ago - pre covid but I think it's to preserve some of the structures. I know it's a shame.

w0rkschmurk · 07/01/2023 14:22

Funicular train up to Montserrat, a little outside the city

Bichette · 07/01/2023 14:30

Cable car over the harbour up to Montjuïc.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 07/01/2023 14:33

The Funeral Museum. It's in the basement of an insurance companies' office. Life size mannequins of attendants, horses, hearses etc. Very creepy but very good !

BliainNua · 07/01/2023 14:38

Mount Tibidabo
Cable car across the harbour
Walk down Las Ramblas to the beach
The aquarium I remember being good, 25 years ago
The musical fountain at night

Yerwotnow · 07/01/2023 14:44

Thank you! These are great ideas to be going on with. My eldest is a HUGE fan of churros and the funeral museum sounds like it will be right up his treat so these will tickle his fancy (hopefully enough to be dragged round places that don’t appeal as much!)

There are some great things to do on AirBnB experiences. It might not be your thing at all but we did a group sunrise paddle boarding session where the instructor took some really lovely photos of us all and then air dropped them to us at the end. The teenagers we were with loved it.

filka · 07/01/2023 15:23

Miro Foundation if you are even vaguely interested in modern art
Night out at a flamenco restaurant (mostly on the Ramblas)
Guitar concert at Palau de la Musica
Tibidabo amusement park for kids
Chocolate Museum

Watch out for pickpockets, especially on the Ramblas

MissAmbrosia · 08/01/2023 16:18

Boat trip round the harbour or up the coast. Do one of the free walking tours. We did the historical centre one and an evening tapas tour with Strawberry Tours and both were great fun. You just tip the guide at the end. (5 or 10 euros would seem to be the etiquette) but great for discovering places you might not find on your own. The museum of Catalan History near the port has a great cafe/resto on the roof with fabulous views (you don't need to visit the museum) The roof top of La Pedrera building with the funky chimneys. El Quatre Gats restaurant - beautiful old building - does a nice breakfast/brunch.

timetorefresh · 08/01/2023 16:21

Parc Guell and the musical fountain. The science museum there was amazing but you're only going for two days? Any chance you can make it longer? There's loads to do

doodlejump1980 · 08/01/2023 16:23

Chocolate museum! Their hot choc is so amazing. The aquarium is good on a hot day too.

harktheherold · 08/01/2023 16:24

We had a fun day on the beach in barceloneta

Yerwotnow · 11/01/2023 14:08

I’m already excited! Thank you so much all of you. Do you think it’s best to stay near Las Ramblas (thinking of my teen wanting to explore) or is there somewhere else you would recommend?

www.mhapartments.com/en/barcelona-apartments/mh-liceo We stayed here and www.aspasios.com/apartments-barcelona/catedral-bas-apartments/ here. Both were great. Not far from Ramblas.

Yerwotnow · 12/01/2023 01:57

Thank you!

I didn’t rate Parc Guell.
We enjoyed Montjuic Castle the most. You can go up on cable cars from near the port.

KangarooKenny · 12/01/2023 06:42

Careful on Las Ramblas, lots of pick pockets.
