Summer destinations for remote working with a 16 year old in tow

I’m looking for any suggestions of a country/area (most likely within Europe as we want to travel by train) for at least the whole month of August to stay. Last summer we went to the USA for a similar time (although it was mostly to see family and friends) and loved being able to go for such a long break. Thanks to work all being online, we can combine a longer trip alongside working for a few hours each day. We will have our 16 year old DD with us so are looking probably at areas that combine some sea time with plenty of places to explore. We are pretty active on holiday rather than looking mostly for sun bathing etc. Happy to move every week to a new place so could potentially cover a large area. Thinking so far of Andalusia but worried it will be just too hot… Anyone want to suggest their favourite places to spend the summer!

I definitely wouldn't go to Andalucia in August. Nor most of the Med probably. It will be hot, expensive and crowded! I'd do the Alps probably and avoid the coast. If you have a month you could do Bavaria, some of Austria, some of the Dolomites. Loads to do and see, beautiful scenery.

www.seat61.com if planning a trip by train.

Thank you - definitely using www.seat61.com such a brilliant source of info. We have spent a lot of time in the alps/ Dolomites (job related!) and explored Bavaria so trying to avoid the mountains this year…

Slovenia. Ljubljana (obviously), the coast in Piran, the lakes and the mountains. There is a huge amount to see and do, particularly if you are outdoorsy. Public transport is awesome but hiring a car and driving is very easy too. The roads are quiet and easy to navigate.

It is honestly the most amazing country and left me blown away by the varied scenery in a relatively small place.
