Anyone been to Isle of Man? Come and tell me about it.

Looking for maybe a weekend in June/July.

Kids will be 6 years and 18 months-ish.

Do we need a car? Can we take the car on the ferry? Is it easier to fly?

Where do we stay? Would like somewhere we can go for long walks, but not in the middle of no where.

Does the weather have to be spot on to enjoy it properly?

Me and my ds went some years ago, whilst i was pregnant with ds1, which is 9yrs ago so i don't know if it has changed much but we found it quite boring there wasn't much to do and yes i would def take the car we didn't and regretted it!! It was miserable weather the day we went, so i suppose if the weather had of been better we might have enjoyed it more. With it being summer they may have some events and things on might be wise to check out some places you can go on the net, find out when they open and prices etc!!

Douglas is very nice, and there are some interesting places to visit. I think you've pitched it just right at a weekend though, as the island is a bit run down in places, and the weather isn't always glorious.

I'd go in June , as July tends to be the rainy season almost everyone in the British Isles, particularly the Irish Sea!

I love the Isle of Man .

It has lots of railways (steam and electic), horse-drawn trams, lovely beaches, castles, a mountain to go up by electric railway and lots of glens.

I used to go there when I was little and always had lovely holidays there. Went there when I was pregnant with DS (nearly 5 years ago now) and DH loves it too.

There is beautiful clear seawater (if a little cold ).

Ferry takes about 4 hours from Liverpool or Heysham and you can fly from various places (went from Luton when we last went).

Ewww, don't know what's worse, shagging a manc or snogging a scouser...

It isn't as nice as it looks then?

Bugger, back to square one, thanks all

Oh, now a vote for it!

See DS1 would love the castles and steam trains, but we 'do' them every year around here.

Want somewhere a bit.... different. And I thought the ferry took about 2 and a half hours? Bloody FIL, will know not to ask him about it again!
