Carvan rental in Kent near sheepy Island or 50 miles of that in Kent

We've never done a carvan hol and were looking at those that provided food on site via cafe/etc.

But reading reviews re damp caravans or loud people and mot allowing pets put me off.

We are eager to give it a go as me and hubby want a bit of privacy and possibly invite a friend over for adult fun/etc so hotel not ideal.

Are most sites closed now and if not how do I avoid a smelly/cold caravan. Ideally we want ea views and car parked next to it or close. A pool would be nice but there needs to be on-site food or a short walk

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

(Btw, we've often been to Leysdown/Kent and seen many but liked one place from a distance but when we looked it up, there were no rentals - it was close to a place called Shellness. There was another few sites that rented out but not to my likings from the reviews I read)

Are you looking for a recommendation? Because I can recommend The Foxhunter Park in Monckton, nr Ramsgate.
Closed in the off season though, til March. No sea views but very close drive to lots of beaches including the lovely Sandy beach at Minnis Bay, Birchington.

Yes, I am and thanks
But a sea view is a must, thanks I will look it up as we want an ultra-clean, nice environment etc and we may overlook the sea views as long as the sea is close by.

Are you guaranteed a sea view even if it's right by the sea? Ime the caravans are all in rows and some have views, some don't

Blueberrycreampie · 06/01/2023 14:42

This one's in Leysdown. www.breakfreeholidays.co.uk/park/ukcaravan/6/1197/park-holidays-uk-harts

OneFrenchEgg · 06/01/2023 16:33

Is it Isle of Sheppey you are looking at?

Would this be in the right lines? Whitstable is lovely. Isle of Sheppey has a good beach plus little arcades etc.

I am sure it was harts I went to and it was horrible. Could have been because we were on a sun holiday and were put in a cheap caravan. The views were of the back of a parade of shops. The caravan had a few bits broken. What I saw of the site was grim. I've been on a few holidays and it's the only one I have wanted to walk away from!

We saw another site that friends owned a caravan on and that was way nicer.

Thanks, the site you refer to I've read the reviews and would avoid judging by what you said and the reviews, not for us.

Adult fun?!

Margate and Dymchurch are both miles and worlds apart. And neither are near Sheppey or the mainland coast that fronts it. Difficult for anyone to give a good recommendation with that criteria tbh.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 10/01/2023 06:00

Should have added, can you give a bit more detail on what you’re hoping for and it might be easier to narrow the location down?

QuinkWashable · 10/01/2023 06:33

Are you certain you want a beach-side caravan holiday in February? My advice would definitely be to wait until May or so, the weather'll be challenging on that coastline in Feb.

gogohmm · 10/01/2023 06:40

With caravans, unless it's a private let so a specific van, it's unlikely you can be guaranteed a sea view. However I've always found them clean and warm. Do be aware that the better quality vans usually don't allow pets (only the bronze caravans take them on most sites, private lets aside).

From what you are asking, a cottage would work better for you in winter

Spidey66 · 10/01/2023 06:47

I'm intrigued as to the adult fun. 😳Did you mean Monopoly? You don't need a sea view to get hotels on Mayfair and Park Lane, you know 😉

FLOWER1982 · 10/01/2023 06:50

I live not far away from sheppey. Isn’t shellness a nudist beach? Not sure about the caravans being rental only.

Abigail69 · 11/01/2023 09:43

Hi
Thanks all
My fault and I am sorry for not being clear, but all posts very helpful

Ideally Isle of sheepy near Leysdown, Shellness - alternatively around the Margate area and last choice around dymchurch

Looking at a caravan but nice, clean, warm, no pet smells or room to rent with breakfast at least.

I've noted most caravan parks are closed until start of March.

Thanks again

Just a few days away from home and walks by the beach etc
