Where am I going on holiday?

I am looking to book a family holiday for beginning of July 2023.

We are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 x DS. DS1 will be nearly 4 and DS2 will have just turned 1.

We are looking for a family friendly resort with an AI option. We went to canaries in October 2022 and enjoyed this but looking for something different.

Pools/aqua park would be great as would a location to allow for some day trips if we fancy it.

Ideally 10 or 14 nights, preferably from Bristol.

Budget £3/4k.

Currently looking at Greece/Turkey. Any suggestions appreciated 🙏

No recommendations per se but personally we much prefer Greece to Turkey (for what it is worth) - more laid back, less hassle from people trying to fleece you sell you stuff, better food, beautiful buildings and beaches. Obviously it's down to personal taste and experience (have only been to turkey once and Greece about 3 times). HTH?

Look on jet 2, you can put an aqua park as one of the filters. There’s several options come up.

we have been here a couple of times, big complex with lots of pools and activities through the day and entertainment in the eve.

it’s pretty remote but option to go on day trips

short flight time too

Hurghada.

easyjet flies direct from Bristol. Has a quick look for first two weeks or July and it’s coming under budget at some fab hotels. Some others have free child places.

I agree - we've been to Rhodes and Kefalonia. Not sure on Turkey for the reasons you have stated.

I'm not sure about Egypt with young children

I know you said you've already done Canaries, but I think Seaside Los Jameos at Lanzarote would really suit you. Lovely hotel, really good food, lots of activities and entertainment on site and trips to water parks and other attractions are available.
I priced it up from Bristol and it comes on Jet2 at around £2k for AI for first week of July which is a great price.

gogohmm · 30/12/2022 08:01

Go on the Bristol airport website and see the summer 23 destinations, they have added a few. At those ages I would stick to Greece myself, standards are higher (a bit)

I know they fly to Rhodes from Bristol but I see you have been there, corfu? Crete ... or how about Croatia?

This looks good thank you. We stayed at Gloria Palace Amordes and it looks comparable to this.

Yes I have been looking at Crete. I had forgotten about Croatia.

How good are you with really high temperatures OP?

We went to Dubrovnik in September and they said it was in the 40s in the summer- just something to be aware of with places like Croatia, Turkey and Greece. It might not be as bad first week of July I suppose.

This is a good point. I'm surprised Croatia got that hot.

Where would be best to go in Croatia to fit the ops wish list? I've looked a few times but can't work out which bit to go to.

Fair enough. It’s honestly the same as Turkey. But cheaper 🤣🤣

HalleLouja · 30/12/2022 08:20

I would look at Louis St Elias in Protaras Cyprus. We have had two great holidays there.

We went to Turkey last year with our then 2 year old. Stayed in Barut B suites, it was perfect. Walking to the beach / shops / other restaurants. Shaded playground next to the pool so one of us basically enjoyed the pool whilst the other adult watched playground. Indoor kids room also with arts and crafts etc. Bedroom set up as an apartment with a separate bedroom so we put our child in a travel cot in the bedroom to go to sleep then wheeled it out into the living room at night so we could go to bed. Mini supermarket on site. Evening entertainment inside if you want it. Great food. Would highly recommend. We will potentially be going back this year.

cptartapp · 30/12/2022 08:37

Pine Bay Resort Kusadasi. It's own aqua park and two close by. The only place we've ever been twice.

FoxandFeathers · 31/12/2022 16:40

I would personally look for hotels in Spain/ Portugal/ Croatia. The flight is shorter so makes the travelling easier with little ones. I only go over 4 hours for the sun in Oct half term or December.
PS Gloria Palace Amadores is one of my fave holidays too.

HermioneWeasley · 31/12/2022 16:42

grecotel in panormous on Crete. Water park, big bedrooms and great food. 5 min walk into Panormous village.

Mydogatemypurse · 31/12/2022 16:44

Turkey all day. The big all inclusives are super high quality for the money, often include aqua park and private beach and have multi play areas/kids pools.

Ive taken young children to Turkey and the Turkish people were really kind and welcoming.
