Loved Jordan

4 x 4 in wadi rum, then star gazing, camel ride at dawn. Brilliant

Loved Petra too. One of the best site visits I’ve done.

Jaresh and Aman for history.

great country

I went as a teen and had an amazing time - it still ranks as one of my best holidays ever! We flew into Amman, then went to Jerash, Wadi Rum, Petra, the Dead Sea and Aqaba. All were brilliant.

We got someone to drive us in a jeep over the sand dunes in Wadi Rum, and rode camels in Petra. The Dead Sea is a unique experience. If you like snorkelling or diving, the Red Sea off Aqaba is just gorgeous.

Make sure you get falafel off the street vendors in Amman! Still the best I've ever had 😋 Jordan is the friendliest place I've been to in the Middle East (which I've explored, but I haven't been to Oman). Enjoy!

Is this a place you can travel independently, or do you need to go on a tour? Is there public transport?

I started in Madaba as didn't fancy the size of Amman, I stayed at the Mariam Hotel and they did day tours so organised for them to take me to Jerash, Dead Sea and down to Petra. I felt very safe as a solo traveller. Then stayed in a hostel in Wadi Musa for Petra and walked down from there. Petra is amazing, and large - consider spending two days and go out to the treasury on the second day, but definitely do the walk out there as it is worth it. You can get a guide to take you around if you want, I didn't but I happened to be at one place at the same time as a guide and he pointed out a carving I wouldn't even have noticed. I think they are local Bedouin and very knowledgeable about the area.
Don't miss Wadi Rum either, it is absolutely stunning.

Following, for tips on solo travel. OP, have you seen photos of the rainfall there at the moment - torrential, flooding. I hope it doesn't wash anything away! Hope you make it and have a great time.
