Disneyland Paris with 2 year old worth it?

Hi all

I'm due back to work in January from maternity leave and to make it a little more bearable I'm thinking about plans for the year ahead with LO. Holidays specifically.

One thing DH mentioned he'd like to do is a Disneyland Paris holiday. I was thinking maybe Christmas when she's 3 (year after next) would be best but he is was wondering whether next Christmas would be possible. This is my first and we've been a little cautious with travel due to a combination of being shiny new nervous parents but also COVID etc.

I was wondering how others with toddlers had found this journey/holiday? Has anyone taken their 2 year old? Would they get much from it or would it be better to wait until DD is a bit older? Any advice appreciated.

If it's for the child's benefit alone then no don't do it, if you and your DH want to go then have at it. Personally I was still very much disliking the toddler stage to want to waste thousands on Disney, took our youngest when he was 4 and didn't need a buggy, no naps etc, was lovely.

I think 3 at least.

Depends on your kid I think and what they enjoy.

We went last year with kids 11, 10, 6 & 4. I think the 6yo had the best time. The 4yo was too scared even for rides they were tall enough for and refused to go in to pirates after queuing for example and had to have an adult wait with them for the rest of us. Meanwhile 6yo was tall enough for hyperspace etc and loved it all whilst not being as cynical as the older ones.

If you do go stay in a Disney hotel and use the magic hour to get on your preferred ride without the huge queue. We wine in the summer and last thing at night was also a good time for rides -- again the 6yo was old enough to stay up late and didn't need carrying home, unlike the 4yo.

Yes and no. DS was 2 yrs 8 months the first time we went. He had a brilliant time and could go on a lot of the rides. We went again at Christmastime when he was 4 and again he had a brilliant time. He's 10 now and barely remembers it which makes me sad as we're not as well off now as we were when he was younger so he'll probably never get to go again.
The only negative thing I'd say about going in the winter is the weather can be very cold and / or wet, which for a toddler sat in a buggy, could be quite miserable as most of the queuing is outside and open to the elements. We were very lucky that toy was relatively warm and didn't rain when we were there. I'd definitely avoid school holiday season so that it's quieter - mid December would be good (it's cheaper then too).

I would wait. I think there are so many big events people do too early. I went this year with a 3yo and 5yo. The eldest one had a ball. The younger one enjoyed it but was knackered (generally needed a nap every afternoon when she’d dropped naps 6 months earlier).

If you’re only going to do it once, I’d wait a while until 4 plus.

Thanks all for taking the time to respond, I think all things considered I'm erring on the side of caution and think I'd prefer to save the "magic" for when she's a little bit older. I think as much as myself and partner would love it, it certainly sounds like there's lots of lovely UK based things we could try first.

Yes do it! My kids loved it, they might not remember but I have the best memories of being there with them!
