We went to Blackpool for the weekend for my little boys first birthday and now I'm looking for ideas for next August. It will be the week before his 2nd birthday. Send me all your ideas as I need inspiration 🤗

UK? Abroad? Budget?

When mine was little we did lots of Eurocamp. Kid's pools, playgrounds, mini disco etc. Separate room to put them to bed and drink wine on the terrace.

If you can afford abroad do something like all inclusive Tui Blue. It's great as it's fully family-orientated.

If UK, something like a static caravan near a sandy beach (Wells Next The Sea, Bridlington etc) so you can have beach days, explore the local area etc. If you do a more built up beachy zone then they will have museums, soft plays etc nearby to do when it inevitably rains.

Portsmouth is great for seeing the boats, aquarium, beach, theme parks. Plenty of holiday centres near there too.

Apparently the phrase etc was important in my post. Sorry I've overused it a bit 😂

Based on my child, Isle of Wight. Admittedly we went during the heat wave but it feels like it is designed for toddlers. Beaches, pubs with bouncy castles, paddling pools, monkey sanctuaries...

I agree the Isle of Wight is amazing for children's holidays.
The children will have so much to do and the ferry ride or hovercraft is a very exciting way to start a holiday 🙂🙂🙂🙂

My DC loved Butlins. I had such reservations the first time we went, but it was a game changer - always plenty to do no matter what the weather, and if the children were happy then so were we.

As long as they had loads of attention/play, they didn't care where we were. For us, warmer places were more fun but I don't think it made any difference to them. The most successful place was a rental in the middle of nowhere in France where the owner's cat had just had kittens and I'm not sure you can plan for that 😂. I guess a farm stay increases the chances of fun animals though.
The most child unfriendly place was Italy as the children's fun fairs on the seafront we thought could be an early evening treat didn't open til 9.

Majorca. At just turned 2 you won't even need the fancy splashworlds.

Majorca have lots of little parks to go to by the beaches when DS was around 3 he loved it.

Budget? preferred travel time and where are you leaving from cos I'm sure the Isle of Wight is great but it's a blooming long drive if you live in Scotland!

Grin

We took ours to an AI in Spain at that age. Bloody loved it. Hot. Spent all our time in the pool or in the on-site playgroundl,. Beach nearby.

My DD tolerated heat poorly, so we usually stayed in the UK.
Butlins was a hit at a slightly older age.
Anglesey is a perfect spot with kids. Lots of beaches, lots of smaller scale theme parks and animal attractions. Nice climate..
