Interconnecting Rooms NYC

We're off to NYC in 2023, and am looking for 2x hotel rooms which interconnecting as we have 2DC early teens.

Ee're looking for clean reasonable priced rooms as we'll not be spending a great deal of time in the hotel.

Please let me have your recommendations; preferably Manhattan, but we would consider Brooklyn.

Can’t they be trusted @Trounlet ?. We trusted ours at that age! We had adjacent rooms. Or look at Cittadines or similar. Apartment hotels in other words. Or you and DH split up and split Dc up so there is an adult in each room.

We found that even where interconnecting rooms were available that not a single hotel would guarantee them - they were only allocated on arrival. I have two children old enough to need separate beds but not old enough to be in a room by themselves so couldn’t risk it.

We ended up looking for rooms with two double beds and a sofa bed. All of us in one room and it was a bit snug but it worked as we were literally only there to sleep.

We ended up at the Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square in their family room. It was very central, clean and did the job.

We stayed in the Hotel which was a great location, v near Penn station, and had a family room with a double bed and two pull out beds, as well as a tiny kitchenette where we could do breakfast. It was also v close to a great bagel place, so DH usually popped down to get bagels for breakfast!

Apprecoate that’s not interconnecting rooms, but as you say, you don’t spend much time in the hotel if you are visiting NYC!

Have you been before OP? My top tip is not to stay in midtown and certainly don't stay anywhere near Times Square. It's really gotten bad in the last few years and the noise/smell/crime around TSq is horrendous!

Places like the Residence Inn by Marriott have 2 beds in a suite. Provably cheaper then 2 rooms. Easy enough to search on Booking.Com or similar. I would say Midtown is fine but avoid Times Square. There’s plenty more places though! Look at what you want to see and where it is and choose most convenient location. It’s a long way from Twin Towers to Central Park!

We stayed at the Hotel Beacon this summer, highly recommend. We had rooms on the same corridor as teens and with internal phones felt happy that they could contact us at any time. They also have suites so you could have a sitting room with a sofa bed as well as bedrooms - teens had this so one DD in bedroom and one in sofa bed and both happy as Larry as not technically sharing same room😁. Also have a kitchenette in each room (and standard supermarket over the road) which we found very useful as the price of food at even cafés was insanely expensive. Nice quiet area on Broadway with the subway five minutes away.

The Stewart is closing at the end of the year to b3come a hostel and then refurbished into flats.

We had a suite at The Manhattan Club. Bedroom with ensuite. Sitting Room with sofa bed and rollout bed and another bathroom. Little kitchenette and microwave for popcorn.

Thanks all I'll take a look at your suggestions.

I have been to NYC before, but not since before the DCs were born.
