Calling anyone who has taken a short break in Paris - recommendations for accommodation

We are planning a 3 night break in Paris during the Feb half term and have searched the internet for accommodation but I'd much prefer a few personal recommendations to go on.

We've got one DS (almost 8) so it would have to be child friendly and we would also ideally like something fairly central for sightseeing (although we realise this will push the price up) but I understand public transport is very good there.

Any recommendations/tips would be really welcome.

I took my two DS to Paris in October half term and stayed in the Marais district at a hotel called Jardins du Marais, which I got via Expedia. It wasn't very cheap but it was comfortable and quiet, and a short walk from the main no. 1 Metro line which takes you to all the main places. The room was a double & a single bed and perfectly OK. We didn't have the expensive breakfast but had petit dejeuner at a different local cafe every day - price varied but cheap. I love Paris & it will be even better now that they have banned smoking!!! Hope you have a fab time.

Have a look at this thread, and/or this one, or just go to rentparis.com and look at their two-bed at 13 rue Rambuteau.

Am off to Paris in March. Originally had planned to take my lo so searched on here for hotel recommendations. A kind mumsnetter suggested this hotel which is really cheap, right in the heart of the Latin Quarter and very child friendly. It also ranks really highly on tripadvisor.

Thanks everyone - all your info has been really useful.

I've just had a look at the hotel collegedefrance website and it looks like double rooms are the largest available. Yet when you look on the rates table there seems to be a 20 Euro charge for an additional bed (but the way I read it looksa s if it's free up to the age of 14). Not sure if I've read this right or not?

The double rooms seem pretty small and it doesn't really look like there would be much room for another bed.

Has anyone stayed there with 3 in a room?

I suppose I could always email them to clarify.

I emailed to enquire about taking lo and they said that they would provide a bed for free in the room. Every Paris hotel room I have stayed in has been teeny. They are famous for it so you would probably be given a bigger room to accomodate an extra bed. Email them though and see what they say. I just liked the location and price. We don't spend any time in the hotel room apart from to sleep though.
