Where would you go? Shortfall for 3 nights.
we like places which are scenic, friendly, nice cafe culture, some shops, a little sightseeing. Have done Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Paris and love them all but would like to try somewhere different.
Considering Berlin as have been told it’s wonderful but I need convincing as from googling it seems quite museum and military history orientated. Also considering Iceland but would 3 nights be too short? Any ideas for somewhere different? We’d be traveling next summer so probably would avoid cities that would be too hot that time of year.

Open top bus tour to the Olympic Park. The English Gardens. The Viktualienmarkt is great. Hofbrauhaus not to be missed - it gets mega busy though. We didn;t get there but the Deutsches Technology museum is meant to be amazing. We did some beer gardens where Hitler used to hang out.

Another vote for Stockholm - lots to do and nice weather in the summer: not too hot.

Berlin is fantastic.

DH and I are going to Krakow next year, just us. It looks like there is a lot to do and it is pretty cheap too.

I didn't enjoy Berlin as much as I'd hoped. I don't know why, (probably poor research), but I expected Christmassy atmosphere with nice bars and markets. It felt quite different when we arrived... unfriendly and pretty difficult to find a nice place to eat and drink. I absolutely love Bruges and would recommend it for a few days. It's a beautiful place with lots of lovely cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and sightseeing.

You could also look at the Baltic states - Tallin is lovely. I've never been to Riga but heard good things about it. Vilnius looks interesting - I passed through in the middle of the night once and wished I could have stayed longer.

Granada is beautiful.

Another vote for Munich. I was there last week and had a fantastic few days.

Seville is also lovely, but it is ridiculously, unbelievably hot in mid summer. Best visited in Spring or Autumn.

Helsinki. It’s a very elegant city, you could swim outside in the Allas Sea Pool. Do a side trip to Poorvo or Tallin. Something a bit different from the usual roll call of cities.
