Flying with Vueling, anything positive to say?

So as the title says, I’ve booked flights with Vueling (2 adults, 1 teen and 2 older kids). Flying from Birmingham to Barcelona next August. (Well I hope so 🤦‍♀️).

We usually fly with tui or easyJet but next summer we were completely priced out for these airlines. I know Vueling is a budget airline so I am not expecting frills but I just wondered if it was a huge mistake? Yes I did look at the Facebook page 🤦‍♀️. I know people only post the bad stuff though so did it go smoothly for anyone here? Looking for some positive stories. Thank you.

Vueling is fine. It's low cost so just check all the rules etc on things like hand baggage, seat booking etc. It's only a short flight so don't worry.

booked to fly with them to Malaga next February. Seem very basic so double check baggage allowance. I don’t really mind otherwise when it’s such a short flight

I've flown with them and they're fine. Tbh I think all short haul airlines are much the same now- with the possible exception of Jet2 who are more organised and have better ground services. You'll be fine.
Earlier this year I flew on an outbound flight with BA and returned with Wizz Air - the only thing setting them apart was the price!

Fine, just like any other budget airline.

We got caught in the baggage disaster of the summer on the way home, but the bags arrived about 3 days later.

However that was more the airport than the airline - don't fly to Florence, fly to Pisa is what we learned the hard way.

We've flown with them before and they've been fine - certainly rather be flying with them than with Ryanair - and easyjet have just cancelled our June half term flights to Spain, so they're certainly no worse than any other airline (I don't find BA any better either, had an awful flight to Turkey with them with the air stewardess complaining the whole time about how awful BA are).

Thank you all for making me feel better. I did think from the exception of jet 2 etc they’re all pretty much quite similar. The difference in cost for us was well over 1000 pounds so I just the bit the bullet and booked with them.

We flew with them this half term - the actual flight was fine, normal budget airline. They had wifi on the flight but you had to pay for it so we didn’t bother.

I had trouble entering passenger information for us all on the computer for check in (passport details etc) as it bizarrely was complaining that my children’s birth dates meant that they weren’t over 18 at the time of the flight. Which obv they weren’t cos they’re my children?? It wouldn’t let me save the passenger info and I couldn’t get though to ANY customer service advice. Totally non existent. BUT, I downloaded the Vueling app to my phone and it let me enter passenger info and thus check in and get boarding passes via the app. (This may have been because we booked via booking.com rather than direct??)

So my tip would be to use their app rather than on computer for adding your info - and don’t be in a situation where you actually need to speak to someone, cos you absolutely won’t be able to! (Keen to hear if anyone did manage to get to speak to a person ever over the phone!)

Flown a few times with Vueling, never had a problem.

DarkKarmaIlama · 13/11/2022 09:16

@Talipesmum

I didn’t book direct either so thanks for the tip. App over browser for the online check in. I did hear of someone who had a similar problem regarding her teen so she just had to check in at the airport instead. Bizarre.

@NoraNancy

Good to hear 👍 thank you.

Ooh interesting to hear someone else had the same issue! That was my backup plan too - go to the airport and get it sorted. We actually only used them for the return flight so I’d planned to go and speak with them once we’d got to our destination. Good luck and hope it works ok for you!

NCFT0922 · 13/11/2022 09:37

Positive - you will arrive at your destination.

DarkKarmaIlama · 13/11/2022 09:38

Brill thanks all. 😁

I flew Vueling ironically from Birmingham to Barcelona in September 2016 and Barcelona to Birmingham in March 2016. My first flight was slightly delayed (think 20-30 minutes) and there were crumbs on the seats but was a good flight. Likewise for the second first… pretty uneventful. Mum preferred Vueling over BA citing that the take offs were nicer 😁
