Hotels at Disneyland Paris + getting there

Booking a trip to Disneyland Paris just before Christmas.

Which hotel do you recommend? I wanted to stay at the New York Marvel Hotel as it's the closest and the nicest looking, but it's a lot more expensive than the others. Is it worth the money?

Anyone got experience of any others? I looked at Newport Hotel and Sequio Lodge too as they were the next 2 closest but the Tripadvisor reviews aren't great.

Didn't realise a trip to DLP would be so pricey! Still want to go though.

Anyone used the TGV train from Paris airport to get to DLP? Smooth journey? Was going to hail a taxi but the train looks to be cheaper and quicker.

Sequoia Lodge is nice, good location and the restaurants and bars are really nice. The rooms are a bit tired but I think some have been done up. Haven't stayed at Newport Bay but know a lot of people who have and they all think it's lovely.

PS have always used a pre booked private transfer as can't be bothered with the train. It was Prestige transfers but I think they may have changed name.

Stayed at sequoia and Newport. Newport was being renovated when I was there (6 years ago) so it was cheapish (no restaurant or bar) no idea how it is now, our room was tired and dusty. Sequoia was nicer but I'm going back a long time, 15 years! Unless it's been refurbished it may also be aging. The New York one has been refurbished (no marvel connection 6 years ago). I suppose it depends on budget and whether you actually need to go back in the daytime as to whether close is important.

We took Eurostar once (direct) and drove the second time

We’ve stayed at Hotel Santa Fe many years ago which was very basic. Looking to do Cheyenne next year as DS is Toy Story mad. The walk from these hotels was only another few minutes and it’s a lovely walk so I wouldn’t be put off by that.

The Marvel hotel is brand new and the most expensive one you can book so if price is a concern, you may be better off with the Newport Bay which is the next best in terms of ratings.

There are some great vlogs on YouTube where people have stayed or toured the hotel and tried the restaurant (Adam Hattan and The Kershaw Family I believe have both visited the Marvel hotel). From what I remember seeing, I think it’s better for older Marvel fans as it’s very grown up theming and I think the restaurant layout was quite crammed together.

We normally go by Eurostar but they’re no longer running to/from Disney from summer 2023. Haven’t flown there as there’s no airport doing direct flights near us. We’re considering driving there as it’s a straight road from the tunnel to Disney (about 3hrs of motorway). There are vlogs giving practical tips about getting on the Eurotunnel, car kits required for France etc. If you book a Disney hotel the parking is free and you can use Tesco Clubcard points to buy the Eurotunnel tickets.

I've done Hotel Cheyenne and Hotel Santa Fe as they are the cheaper options. Absolutely ideal as you barely spend any time in the room anyway. They both have shuttles to the park or it's a 10-15 minute walk in along the river and through Disney Village!

Can't help with travel though, as we went on a coach trip.

We stayed at the Cheyenne and it was fine, it was clean and functional and with the early magic hour and staying for fireworks we were barely there anyway. It is walkable, we did it once in the pouring rain because the buses were so full and it only took 10 minutes or so.

We drove, did the tunnel with Tesco vouchers. Parking is free at the hotel. It is a really easy drive although Dover is a bit of a pain to get to, we stayed in a Premier Inn the night before and got a 7am tunnel.

Magic bud from the airport is great and will take you straight to your hotel.

We haven’t stayed in the other 2 you mention but the New York hotel is fantastic.

We had 1 night Sequoia lodge in October. It wasn't great, room was tired and breakfast was a ridiculous price. I booked a package through Disney for 2 days and 1 night, and then stayed the night before and after in Val d'Europe, which is next closest 'village'. The hotel when part of the ticket was only about £80 more than park tickets alone, but to stay the night before and after was going to cost £400/night. The overnight package gave us early magic hours access for both our park days and the hotels in Val d'Europe were both far cheaper and nicer than Sequoia lodge. Probably too much hassle if your kids are really small though.

I’d go for Sequoia Lodge, especially in winter. The lodge theming feels very cosy, the grounds are pretty and there’s even a real open fire. The rooms are comfortable (with only a few gripes), the pool has a slide and the hotel is only a 10 minute walk away from both parks.
If your budget can stretch to it, go for a Golden Forest Club room. It means you get private check in & concierge (very handy in busy moments), a private breakfast area with a bigger selection and renovated rooms on the 5/6/7th floors with a nespresso machine & fridge.
Unless it’s raining, I’d walk from the train station to Sequoia Lodge. Its an easy walk, 10 mins or so, all on the level, no problem trundling luggage with you. And no need for entry tickets or passports, you just stroll through Disney Village.

Have you looked at Magic breaks. We’ve always booked with them and they are superb. We have stayed in a few on and off site. We had a brilliant deal on the Disneyland hotel once out of season. We really like the radiating blu. Transfers to the park. Last time we stayed at the centre parks place too which was lovely but I prefer being closer.

onemomentintime · 10/11/2022 07:39

Sequoia lodge location is great- it is a bit tired but we spent barely any time in the hotel so didn't matter. Plentiful hot water etc. didn't bother with breakfast but the buffet dinner was good although expensive.
Super quick walk to parks.
You can still get Eurostar next summer but will need to change at Lille. We did that on the way out and was very easy although had to wait at Lille for an hour. Kids are a bit older so was ok. There is a massive shopping centre next to the train station if you needed to waste time. We dropped our luggage with Disney express at the Disney station and walked straight into the parks.

Recently stayed in Newport Bay and it was like a medium security prison. Vast dowdy corridors, messy breakfast room, and a general air of slight delapidation.
