Travel insurance

Does anyone add travel disruption and airspace closure into their travel insurance. I’m looking at aviva for an annual policy and don’t know if these add ons are a waste of money.

And anyone used admiral for travel insurance?

Travel disruption? Surely that’s the very essence of insurance.

Yes you would have thought but it’s an add on with aviva. So if the government advises against travel to your particular destination but your flight is still going you can claim. Think it’s just a way of getting more money out of you coz if you still go then I think the insurance is invalidated anyway.
Im overthinking things but they will do their best to not pay out on claims if at all possible.

We’ve just renewed our annual family travel insurance and I’ve added travel disruption cover on (it was an extra £7 for the year). Last year when our flight was cancelled and we were moved to Gatwick from Luton and the date changed we had to pay for new parking and an extra night’s accommodation. I spoke to our insurers at the time but they said we could only claim for those additional costs if we’d got travel disruption cover. We’re with Cover For You (which is Axa) and it seems like a decent policy and we’re have £0 excess but have never actually claimed!

I have travel insurance included with my bank account and it’s with Aviva but I’ve never actually claimed with them so couldn’t say what they are like.
Dd is looking for insurance for a long haul holiday in December so I would be interested to know who people go with. I find it very stressful for some reason. All the small print just confuses me.

I've got travel disruption and airspace closure covered as standard on my policy... this is with Covered2Go. Airspace closure comes under the natural catastrophe section though. They might be worth a look at?

We’ll have to read the policy stuff carefully.
OP Admiral is one of the cheapest covers that Dd is looking at. No idea if they are any good though.
