Would I be required to unbox the items to go through security? It if helps I've got the email receipts, it's a gift and I'd like to keep it sealed if possible. Any feedback?

AFAIK, you have to be able to switch them on and they’re supposed to be fully charged if in hand luggage.

There always a chance that they would ask you to open it. You have to be able to prove that it can be turned on.

You are also effectively importing it into another country and would need to declare it at customs on arrival too. You would then need to pay tax and duty.

Every year people get caught out by this as they don’t realise.

Wow, never realised about declaring it etc.. I suppose then I'll just put it in a regular tablet case. I'll keep the box in the checked luggage - is that a better Idea?

You only have to declare and pay tax if the value is over a certain amount. In many many years of travelling I've never had to turn on an electronic device at security. So although it's possible, it's unlikely you'd have to. Just leave it in your luggage. Putting it in checked luggage risks it disappearing from your case.

Could you buy it airside to save any hassle, and get it much cheeper? You can order stuff into the big shops to make sure they have it.

But like PP - I’m a very frequent flyer and no I’m what’s ever fussed about whether I can switch things on.
