Hello,
First time post, long time lurker!
Going to Paris for 3 nights soon with 13 year old child. Any tips or suggestions for doing trip budget friendly please. Is Eiffel Tower a must to climb up for view? Thinking of doing a cruise along seine too.
Travel and accommodation is all sorted, it's just sorting day and meal/restaurant places. Thanks

Paris isn't Paris without a trip up the tower...

I took my 12 yr old in April for her bday and got some great tips here. Stand out moments for 12 year old were visiting the Shakespeare book store, taking pics for her socials at the Eiffel Tower when the lights switch on at 8, going to the Galerie Lafayette (no purchases were made and yet the assistants still fussed over her and complimented her style), getting out caricature drawn at the artists square, montmatre and generally eating lots of pastry and macron at various stops. We didn’t go to the top of the tower as over hyped nor did we do the Louvre. Musée d‘orsay was fab. We also hired a car on an (unfortunately) very rainy day and took in Monets house & garden as well as Versailles.

forgot to add.. on her actual bday I used a viator discount via Quidco, splurged and we did a premium lunch on the seine boat tour, sat at the window at front of boat. Also got a birthday cake brought to table and everyone sang happy birthday. Obviously she hated but secretly loved it I think !

Do the Eiffel at night. I've been to Paris twice and never made it to the top, both times (as a student and as a middle age parent) I thought it was far too expensive so just went as far as we could climb!

Oh lovely that sounds perfect for your 12 year olds birthday.
This trip is also part of my daughter's 13th celebrations. Musee dorsay it is rather than Louvre. Thanks everyone for all these great tips would never have known otherwise, much appreciated 😊

Père LaChaise cemetery is pretty cool, lots of famous people buried there, Oscar Wild, Jim Morrison etc (his geave has lots of fans). It’s also a really elegant cemetery.

You get wonderful views from the Sacre Coeur, looking across Paris to the Eiffel Tower. If you climb the steps to it you get a great view from outside without spending a euro.

La Defense is quite nice too (basically the opposite side of the Arc de Triomphe to the champs elysees) with nice views back to The Arc. It’s at the end of the main metro line too, so easy to get to.

We went last week for three days, also went by Eurostar, took dd2 aged 11. We visited Eiffel Tower day one but didn’t go up. Took lots of pics and then had a stroll around. Took an Uber to Arc de Triomphe and walked down the Champs Élysée, popping in and out of the shops. Stop for afternoon tea at Laduree the iconic macaron maker ( although they also have a small store at at Pancras) . Went into the big Sephora which is always a hit. We also visited the Louvre which was so busy but worth it to see the Mona Lisa, there are so many museums there will be something to suit everyone. We wanted to go into Angelina’s ( famous for their hot chocolate and pastries) the queue was massive as we didn’t pre book but they do a take away service whereby you just go to the counter. A croissant and a hot chocolate , order of the day! We also shopped in Galeries Lafayette, massive department store with something for everyone. Enjoy, it’s a great city.
