thank you

We went in April I think, was quite hot but extremely windy, tbh it’s the only place I’ve been in the world that I wanted to come home early thankfully we only spent a week, it was Boa Vista other islands may be nicer.

Oh that is interesting

apart from wind, why did you want to come home?

thank you

We've been in Jan and it got to 38-40 degrees. No clouds in the sky at all and it rained once for about 15 mins across the 2 weeks. It was perfect.

I went to Boa Vista in November and it was warm.
It can be windy though.

The flies mainly I know that sounds stupid, covered literally everything I found it very difficult to eat anything, plus very little to do outside of the hotel when some went on a beach buggy trip they came back to the hotel for lunch as no where else & the wind made it impossible to sit on the beach with any comfort, I always make the best of any holiday that we’ve been on but I just found it extremely hard going, it may have improved was a while since we went & as I say other islands may be better.

Thank you for your replies, really helpful.

the ‘not much to do’ thing has been something I have been thinking about. However it is only going to be a week and the aim of the holiday is a week of pure chilling.

am considering canaries too but wanted more guarantee on the weather (without the prices of somewhere like the Caribbean)

We've been to Sal twice and I don't remember there being a problem with flies.

There are day trips you can book, we've done a couple of boat trips and a catamaran. There are other more 'active' activities as well but I just want to relax. It's so easy to just got from hotel pool to beach and back again. Our hotel had lovely entertainment in the evenings and an on site spa to enjoy. But there are no other things to do really. It's a very relaxing, simple and slow paced holiday destination.

We went to Sal, no issues with flies at all.
We were there for a week but werent bored, we snorkelled, swam and the kids played in the pool. We had a few trips out, jumped off rocks, paddled with baby sharks, swam in a salt lake, explored the main town (felt very safe)
I would happily go back

Dh and I are going in 3 couple of weeks, weather currently looks warm but overcast.
I have heard about it being windy and there not being much to do. We are only going for a week with the sole intention of having a proper break (it’s been a very tough 6 months for me and I need to properly just lie down with a stack of books and a lunchtime beer, switch off and not having my kids chewing my ear off for a bit).
we may book a couple of excursions however as I’m not known for my ability to switch off 😂
it seems weather wise that it sits at a pretty consistent temperature all year round, we heard November-may will be the best weather (as in less rain I suppose) so January or February you’d think would be similarly fine.
