Christmas in Copenhagen

Today I threw out as a total off the cuff whim to home-body home-loving DH 'Why don't we rent an apartment in Copenhagen over Christmas for a couple of weeks?'

VERY unexpectedly he was enthusiastic.

So i am now rather cautiously (and hopefully) looking for ideas / advice and inspiration with the plan to strike while the DH iron is hot!

So, if anyone knows Copenhagen would you let me know what the Christmas period os like there? Is there loads of stuff to do, (we would hire a car and go somewhere else also for a few days if possible). Dcs are almost 13 and almost 11.

We have both visited Copenhagen for work, and liked it alot but know really nothing about it!

Sorry for the rather vague question, but I would be most grateful for any tips!

[deflates slightly] after further discussion DH said he wants to go next year not this as he is concerned about the rise in covid and all that.

Still...... the fact he is even considering it is exciting and next year would give me more time to really plan!

You have an extra year: start saving! We went over New Year. We crossed over to Malmo, Helsingborg, Helsinor. We didn’t get to do too much as it was just a few days, but it was brilliant.

Oh I forgot about Helsinor! And you are right.... an extra year to save. That is a good thing as my holiday account has taken a bit of a beating lately! ( during covid I have done loads of weekend trips in the UK with the DCs - fun, but not really deeply satisfying).

Visit Dragør. I have no idea if they do anything christmassy, but it is such a pretty little town, it felt like walking in a fairytale in spring. If you are lucky enough to be there when there is a little snow and/or a christmas market, it must be magical, like walking in a christmas card

Oh it all sounds so wonderful!

Next year is not that long to wait so I will be patient. I once accidentally booked (and paid for in full) a cruise for the following year and never realised until the confirmation came and we were all listed as being 12 months older than we were.

thank you so much for replying.
