Family of 2+2 sleeping arrangements?

I'm looking to book our first holiday abroad next year, the children will be 8 and 6. In the big family resorts When it says 'one bedroom apartment' where does everyone sleep? Is it mostly two double beds? Or two singles with a sofa bed? I find all the photos look like they've been stretched and I can't tell if the beds are singles or doubles. Sorry if it is a stupid question. I feel massively out of my depth and I've only just started!

A one bedroom apartment nearly always has sofa beds. Sometimes it’s a double, sometimes two singles. If you let us know your budget and roughly where you want to go, I bet mn would be able to give you come recommendations for hotels with good sleeping set-ups for families.

I don't think there is a standard. At easter the family suite we stayed in actually had a double bed in the bedroom and two singles in the separate children's den.

You generally need to get a 2 bedroom hotel suite or get a 2 bedroom apartment to have separate rooms. Most hotel rooms are shared or shared with separate sofa bed otherwise

Putting 2+2 in a one bed apartment on holiday usually means the 2 DC are sharing a sofa bed.
We got away with this for years but last few holidays we needed to make sure each DC has own bed. We usually just email or phone the people renting the apartment out and ask them

Mostly I've had 2 double beds but I tend to book cities rather than package resorts. In Spain on the coast they tent to push two singles together (a bugbear of mine) and call it a double anyway

Thank you, helpful replies! I haven't got a budget at the moment...I was just having a quick look to see if it is even something we can afford. I will definitely be back for some help when I've got a budget!! Thank you 😊

You can get ‘apartment hotels’. These are often good for families as you get the facilities of a hotel ie restaurant and pool, but small actual apartments or villas depending on preference.

Also try to see what they mean even when they say double.alot can be "show home double" which is basically a single and a half.
Interconnecting is one to look put for.
Trip advisor is usually a great tool. Watch put for ones that are obviously faked.

But yes come back over the years iv e seen mn literally plan people's holidays with their amazing skills and knowledge.
