Hi. I want to take the family to Italy next year. Kids are 15 and 9, so needs to be quite active for them. I would love a beach or somewhere nice to read a book and swim. Either self catering or a not too expensive hotel. I was looking around northern italy as we will drive. But honestly I’m stumped! If anyone has any recommendations they would be gratefully received!

Have you looked at Eurocamp? Loads in Northern Italy. Various accommodation options, lots of sports, activities and pools and in certain coastal locations beach access. If you're driving also easy to stay in a couple of locations during your trip.

Lake Garda.

Have a look at Marina di Venezia and Union Lido. If they’re too far east for driving, try Bella Italia.

Just come back from lido do Jessolo. About 50 minutes from Venice. We also went to Verona and lake Garda.
lido is a really long beach with a street that runs parallel that has restaurants, shops and hotels.
there we’re lots of families with children from babies to teenagers.
to get to Venice we caught a bus and then a water taxi to saint marks square. We also did the same to murano. Book tickets in advance for the attractions in Venice to jump queues.
I wasn’t so keen on lake Garda to be honest but it could just have been the resort we were at. I can’t remember the name began with Sim and was a town inside a fort.
verona was lovely. Much more relaxed than Venice abs only place for a queue was Juliet’s balcony but that was free and the queue moved very quickly.

I think you're talking about Sirmione @UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter .

We went to Pescheria in Lake Garda and loved it. There are a few Euro Camps dotted along the lakeside. Bella Italia being one.
we stayed in a hotel so can't give any information on Euro Camps, but Pescheria was perfect for what we wanted. It has a train station to visit Verona, close by and Venice, quite a few hours journey away.

Pescheria has a lovely little town centre with shops and restaurants, a great theme park Gardaland. Movie land and Aquarium. We hired bikes and cycled around the lake.
You can also catch the ferry and visit other towns around the lake.

Meant to add, we've also been to Lido Di Jesolo which we enjoyed. It's proximity for visiting Venice is perfect.
Like Unicorn says, it has a beautiful beach and also a good water park, Aqualandia.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 20/08/2022 17:48

Yes that sounds right. We only came back yesterday 😳

I forgot about the water parks and theme parks. We didn’t visit them but heard good things about them.

Dolomites which could be combined with the coast, a city break or one of the lakes.

We just came back from Bibione (near Venice) and actually drove there from Germany. It was amazing!! I highly recommend staying at the Village Turistico Internazionale resort. It's right on the beach (that has loads of water sports) and the resort has a massive water park with a huge number of different pools and slides for kids of all ages. It's also on the doorstep of a huge number of restaurants and shops. Perfect!

I echo Lido. We stayed in Principle Palace hotel. Fab food.

We stayed in the Principe Palace too generalh. It was a fantastic hotel with lovely staff.

We've just came back from limone in Lake garda, most beautiful scenery, pebbly beach, swim in the lake and plenty of activities on the lake side. Windsurfing, paddleboarding, canoeing.
Take a ferry to malsciene and the cable car to the top of Mount baldo, a view that will be forever etched in my mind.

If driving could also drive to garda land from there for a day.

I would stay at the North of Lake garda as the scenery is stunning. We stayed in a hotel through TUI called the leonardo da vinci hotel. It had 3 pools for a chill day every now and again for my 4 year old.

Most beautiful place I have been and being back in the UK waking up to houses out the window and not the view is breaking me more every day.

Cinque terre - five beautiful villages linked by walking trails and railway stations. Levanto isn't one of the five but it's a bigger town one stop down the line with a big sandy beach.

Thanks all of you. So much info for me to look into. Massively appreciate it x
