We are going to the Caribbean soon with 5yo dd

How do I stop her waking at 3am? Should I let her have a good nap at 3pm (which would be 8pm our time, her usual sleep time) and then get her up and keep her up later?

dunno
how do you know YOU won't be waking up at 3am and all?

brimfull · 21/01/2008 11:55

I've never had a problem with dc's going that way.
I just keep him up till a lateish bedtime ,al the excitement helps.
Then we all wake up early and get on with the day,it's not as early as 3am though ,more like 5.Then we just carry on as normal .
You could get some melatonin to help her sleep.

Europe in fact

If left even now I will sleep til midday!

I do have some melatonin I thought you should'nt give to kids

lazy bint

I think letting her sleep at normal time and then going out for a few cocktails and some conch til she falls asleep in the rickshaw/hummer on the way back to the villa is a good idea

I think people use it for adhd kids.
I've never used it on ds though.KNocks me out!

Actually we are staying in a little apartment on the beach
No hummers

Tiny fishing village, no cocktail bars!

ooh where are you going? Sounds fab. I find it easier to deal with the jet lag when you get there-just keep going until its bedtime in your destination. Its coming back home thats the killer. Lo looking for his tea at 1am etc.
