Sojourn to over winter in Italy

I’m wondering if anyone has experience of living in an Italian (2 bed) rental, within an hour of an Italian airport, during a UK winter?
For example, furnished small flat near local shops, market, cafe or two. Won’t have a car.
I’m looking for a new adventure, I want to “kick over the traces”. I’m thinking October to March 2022-23.
Not sure how these things are sourced and materialise.
Must be a reasonable rental price, nothing silly or greedy. Not sure where to start.
All ideas & experiences welcome.,

Unless you are an eu citizen it’s going to be tricky…you’re only allowed 90 days in 180 in the EU…

First thing to consider is that a six month stay is not possible with Brexit if you are not an EU citizen.

I think you will probably have to take a chance on where to go. Do you want a quiet out of season place or a town that is lively enough over Winter? I don't think anywhere in Italy is really that warm over Winter so that might be an issue for you, maybe not.

Others will hopefully be along with more info for you.

Do your research carefully. Many resorts close down over winter, so even if you persuaded someone to rent to you, the town might be dead.

... do you want city or countryside? Personally if I had the money I would choose Milan or an equally busy and fun northern city, nothing too provincial. Italy is expensive rent wise and all family based, mostly, so unlesss you have friends /family and speak the language it can be very lonely.

Thank you to all. I had no idea about the 90 day rule which at least is 3 months so could do January to March. I agree research is paramount.
Im not fussed about a tourist place, I appreciate Italy can be cold in winter too. I just fancy a complete change of scene, life style etc.
Ive had a challenging year.

This is giving me ‘Miss Garnet’s Angel’ vibes. I love that book - have you read it? No help with the practicalities I’m afraid.

Remember that it gets pretty cold in northern Italy - I lived there as a student and we had snow and everything! It was beautiful though, but having a bit of a readymade social life as a student definitely helped.

X-post, sorry! I’ll just never forget flying into Venice in February, with snow and sleet coming down, and a woman sitting behind me saying she’d brought her bikini 🙈😂

I can recommend Lugano in the Italian part of Switzerland. An hour from Malpensa with coaches.

Bustling Town centre all year round. And a Cartier and Hermes shop should you need one.

Beautiful lake, amazing walks and great food.

Yes, northern Italy is cold isnt the winter. We have skied there
What about one of the southern islands? -Sardinia ? Not sure what would be going on there in the winter months
