Hi all,
im after some tips and any information that could be helpful. I am organising a trip for 4 days around the beginning of December we have one night booked in agafay but I’m now looking to book accommodation in Marrakech for 1 night at the beginning of our trip and 2 nights towards the end. Which areas are best to stay in? Any to avoid? Also any hidden gems or restaurants, bars, sights, must do’s would be highly welcomed. And last of all what should we pack for weather wise
thank you all

Your choice will be split between the medina (old town) and the new town outside the city walls. With the former you will probably be in a riad with bags of character, close to all the souks, sights and generally in the thick of the hustle and bustle. With the latter you will have a wide choice of fairly bland modern hotels with pools/spas etc. Taxis cost very little so travelling is not a problem. Within the medina it will be noisy, there is a mosque every few hundred meters and they will often belt out the call to prayer at 4am or whatever. For some Marrakech can be a bit full on, for me I love it. The tourist police introduced twenty odd years ago have made a huge difference insofar as reducing street hassle and you can generally walk about pretty freely with only the odd "Hello my friend, hotel, guide, hashish". It is worth paying for a guide as they ar epretty good at batting away any unwanted approaches. The souks are huge and you will get lost, which is half the fun, they are perfectly safe and I quite like just wandering about and seeing what I stumble across.

In December the weather will be about 20 degrees tops during the day and it will definitely be cold in the evenings.

You have to eat at least once in the main Jemaa el-Fnaa square which comes alive at night with hundreds of street kitchens, food is prepped infront of you and grilled, it's great fun and probably the cheapest place to eat.

Personally I have always liked these two places

Riad Noir D'Ivoire

and

Riad 72

@DillonPanthersTexas ahh brilliant thanks for the information. I’m Definitely after a Riad in the medina,so much choice. I’ve seen some beautiful riads and am spoilt for choice. I will look at those you have linked. Thank you

I second staying in a riad.

Take lightish clothing, plus a winter jacket which you'll probably need anyway for traveling from home to the airport. Maybe also a woolly hat.

The kosy bar is one of my favourite places near the old palace where you can watch storks flying over from their nests on top of the palace walls.
