Ferry to France - food for children with allergies

We're off to France next week and both my two have food allergies - DS2 is almonds, pistachios and hazelnuts DS1 is dairy eggs and soya.

The current information we have is that no dairy, meat or plant products can be taken into France. I was going to pack them a lunch each so I know there's something safe they can eat. But it looks like we can't do that.

Has anyone been on Brittany ferries lately and have any experience of this, or advice at all. It's years since we've been abroad and had none of these restrictions last time (pre Brexit I guess).

I'm sure you can eat what you want while travelling.

We've just been in a caravan. They didn't check anything.

I don’t know about the ferry but eating in restaurants once you get to France might be tricky with allergies. They do not seem to mark allergens on menus and the waiting staff seem to have quite a ‘relaxed’ attitude to food allergens in my experience. Maybe it’s different in chain restaurants though- I haven’t tried. However the food in supermarkets is clearly labelled so at least self catering would be easy to do with allergies.
