Manchester airport twilight bag drop

Has anyone done this recently with any success? We have a 6am flight to Spain so thinking about doing this the day before but worried about cases going missing, etc.

Also, if you do this, do you still need to arrive at the airport 3 hours prior to the flight?

I’m feeling slightly anxious about our first post Covid holiday. Any advice would be much appreciated please.

Are you flying with jet2? We had the option of this for our 6am Saturday morning flight and opted not to as I worried the bags would go missing. We got to check in at 2.45, all of the jet2 staff came on at 3 opened all desks and self check in kiosks and we were through check in and security in 45 mins.

Following as I have been meaning to start a thread asking the same!

We are flying with TUI and staying at a hotel nearby the night before but would need to pay to park in the short stay whilst we did the bag drop so just weighing up if it is worth it. My main concern is our bags going missing

GreenNinja · 03/08/2022 19:17

That sounds efficient!

We are travelling with TUI so unsure if we’ll have the same experience…

We've done it with Jet2 twice this year - it was dead easy and efficient!

dementedpixie · 03/08/2022 19:56

We've used it several times in the past with no issues

MissFritton65 · 03/08/2022 20:23

We did it last month for a Jet2 flight. Really easy especially as I didn't even go - we live 20 mins from the airport so my husband went on the tram. Easiest check- in ever! 😀

We've used it in the past and will be doing it again for a 6am flight in a couple of weeks. Not having to worry about the bags at 3am on the day of the flight is a big relief - just go straight to security. Tbh I'm not going to lose sleep over the bags not getting there - we'll take a change of clothes and swimming stuff in our hand luggage and if the worst comes to the worst we'll go shopping!

Thanks everyone, it does sound beneficial.

I would be more worried about the bags not getting there if I were rushing in at the end of check in. With more time, it’s less likely to go wrong in airport baggage situations.

Two trips to the airport in 2 days? Nah not for me!

thetombliboo · 04/08/2022 07:43

We did this with Jet2 a fortnight ago, we flew from T3. We parked in the multi-storey and it took 2hrs to drop the bags off in the twilight drop it was a long queue.
We still had to get there early as security queues were really big but we had a buggy so we did get through quicker (and waited an age for the buggy) but it did take around 1hr still. I don't know how long the regular queue would have been but it was massive at 4 am.
Flew from T1 last month with just DH, no kids and normal security queue and it was 20 mins start to finish. We arrived early still and we had to sit in the bar around for a few hours.

I live near the airport so did this. Was fine.

Thank you for your responses.

For those that did the twilight bag drop, did you still arrive at the airport 3 hours early on the day of the flight?
