What happens if you test positive on arrival?

About to go to Spain, got our covid passes etc, but just wondering what actually happens if you test positive for covid when you land at the airport where they do random testing? Do they send you home? To a quarantine hotel? Tell you to stay in your room for a few days?

Anyone know?

There is no random testing on arrival in Spain. Where did you get that info from?

On a side note, in Spain you’re free to go out and about even after testing positive, if you’re asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms. Only when you get sick is the official guidance saying that you should stay home for 5-7 days. Similar to the UK. Spain has very few Covid rules now, masks on transport aside.

“You may also be subject to additional checks at the point of entry including a temperature check, visual health assessment, or testing on arrival.”

Great, thank you! I’m just feeling unlucky in a Sod’s Law kind of way 😂

I’m Spanish and have been flying back and forth frequently throughout the pandemic.

Yes, some airports have a wall-mounted thermal camera for temperature checks.

‘Visual assessment’ means they might question you if you can’t stop coughing violently as you wait in the queue.

There has NEVER been testing on arrival. They might have had this options for those arriving with a high temperature or visible symptoms.

Please don’t worry, there won’t be random testing and quarantining, that’s for sure.

Oh and I’d take my information from the official Spanish / whatever country’s sources. The gov.uk website is very often out of date.

Thanks @GrandSlamFinalee that’s put my mind at rest a lot!
