Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria - November

Hello, thinking ahead for some winter sun esp as the DDs have an extra week off in Nov. Has anyone been to Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria? I’m looking at a couple of aparthotels there which seem reasonable. DDs are 8 & 10. We’re not especially fussy just somewhere warm with stuff to do, beach walks, and places to eat, not too trashy / 18-30. TIA!

We stayed for a week in Puerto Rico. Bit noisy at nighttime and a bit trashy. The walk to Amadores was nice. Good beach and restaurants.
We went to Maspalomas this year, more upmarket but also easy to get to Playa del Ingles for a variety of shops and restaurants. Playa del Ingles wasn't as tacky as Puerto Rico. Fabulous walk over sand dunes between the two.
The buses are excellent and cheap to get around.
Have a look at some of the resorts west of Puerto Rico. We visited several on day trips, they all looked nice. I think Anfi was one.
The little port of Mogan is worth a visit. Beautiful canals and streets.

Why Puerto Rico? I've not stayed there but passed through and thought it was the ugliest holiday resort I had seen.

Puerto Rico is a bit marmite. It’s not for me though others love it. It’s warm, easy to get to from the airport and has lots of bars and restaurants.

There are local attractions that your children may like.

It is a mass purpose build resort spread high up the cliffs on all sides and far back into the valley. Depending on the accommodation you need a taxi back having undertaken the walk down via numerous steps and road networks. Could be 25 or 30 minutes to the beach depending on accommodation and how high up the cliff face you are.

It has several Commercial Centres where there are bars, restaurants etc and better ones around the harbour area. There are touts trying to attract you into the establishments.

I think it’s ugly and downmarket. Others love it. It does offer affordable Winter sunshine with lots of accommodation options. On a budget it’s affordable sunshine with activity for kids. I wouldn’t say it’s 18-30s, more 40s upwards liking cheap beer, cheap restaurants (though there is a wide range) in the sunshine. It suits lots of families. I would read a few Trip Advisor reviews to try and get a feel as to whether it’s for you or not.

Thanks everyone. I'll check out some of the other options. @weekendninja I found some nice looking aparthotel rooms during the extra week we have off but wasn't sure about the actual resort :)
