Millions of people do every year, where are you thinking of going?
DD1 was a winter baby and her first holiday was to Cornwall at 7 months, followed by a trip to the Canaries at 10 months. No issues whatsoever.
In fact it was so easy we went back to Devon when DD2 was 6 weeks old

What kind of holiday are you considering?

It’s a good age to travel - they are alert enough to take an interest in stuff, but still portable and not old enough to refuse to do whatever you want to do (like they will when they are 2-3).

Pick somewhere short-haul - you don’t want an over-tired baby on arrival. Slings give you free hands to wheel your case. Buy stuff at your destination if you can (don’t pack a week’s supply of Pampers if you are going on a european city break). Make sure your room has a mini fridge for snacks.

Well it’s generally frowned upon to leave them home alone for a week at that age.

Of course you can take your baby on holiday with you.
If you’re driving, add in time for lots if stops and try to drive over nap times.
If you’re flying, let them crawl around a bit in the departures lounge. Take snacks and give them a drink (boob or bottle - use plain water if you don’t want to give formula at a random time) on take off and landing to combat ear pain.

Of course!!

Enlist the 10 year old as free entertainment - give her a book to read baby.

10 months is a great age to travel with

Personally, I waited until mine had the MMR jab.
Its just that extra bit of protection.

jaundicedoutlook · 23/07/2022 14:17

Absolutely. At that age they are essentially just noisy luggage.

Livinginanotherworld · 23/07/2022 15:50

Why wouldn’t you, it’s easy and free for the most part. Best time to go imo.

Divebar2021 · 23/07/2022 15:54

You don’t have to go abroad to go on holiday… in which case what is the risk? There are plenty of baby friendly places available. Our first holiday was Lyme Regis at about 6 months then Italy a year later.

CantaloupeMelon · 23/07/2022 15:57

It's absolutely fine to take her. But bear in mind that the holiday won't be as relaxing as it used to be pre kids!!

Sorry if that's obvious. It's just your phrase "I'm desperate for a holiday" that makes me wonder if you realise that holidays with kids are quite tiring!
