EasyJet out of Gatwick - when to get to airport?

We're flying out of Gatwick at 0545 in august. Bag drop opens at 0300 but I've heard that the queue for security and passport control are really bad. Should we aim to arrive at 0300 or earlier?
What experiences have you had recently there?

We travelled with EasyJet a few days ago. We checked in our luggage in just five minutes but there was quite a long queue for security. We were really grateful that we had paid for fast track security. We got to the airport three hours before our flight and I'm glad we did because it made everything stress free. Enjoy your holiday!
