Brittany Ferries: masks

I have just found out that Brittany Ferries are requiring masks for everyone over 6 years old. I have 33 hours on the Bilbao ferry with them and I cannot/will not make my 7 and 8 year olds wear a mask for that duration.

Are they enforcing it? I will have to cancel if they are!

Thanks @waltzingparrot are the play area/cinema shut?

Play area was open. No cinema onboard now, If you've got a cabin with a tv, you get video films on demand for free.

@waltzingparrot thanks for this, very helpful. Good idea about entertaining the kids. I just realised, if you don't need to wear them whilst sitting, does that include the lounge areas (as opposed to just restaurants)

You don't need to wear them when you're just sitting down in lounge areas. You won't be wearing masks that much in reality. The queue for the restaurant was the longest we ad them on - about 20 minutes.

I should say we were on the new Salamanca ferry, Portsmouth - Bilbao. I know some of the french routes have cinemas but our ferry didn't. Also, if you've read about the Exhibition room and the Digital Games area onboard the new ferry, this will take up less than an hour of your journey and half the interactive stuff wasn't working - don't want you to set your expectations too high 😂

My only other tip would be not to go the the restaurant early thinking you'll beat the queues - everyone does that but they won't let you in before your allocated time and you'll just stand in a long queue with your mask on. Sit and wait for the queue to start to move before joining it. There's enough seats for everyone!

@QueSyrahSyrah I'm not quite sure it's true that all arriving transport to Spain requires masks. As far as air travel is concerned I think it's down to the carrier . Unless it's changed in the last couple of months - Jet2 didn't require masks on either journey when we flew may bank holiday .

There was some back and forth about it for a while; my work means I need to keep up with regulations for some countries and at one point it was masks both ways, then one way, then neither, then one way again. All in the space of about a week Confused
