Flying with controlled drugs.

We are flying to Berlin a week on Friday. My son has ADHD which he takes medication for. I have tried Googling but seem to be going around in circles and can't seem to find an answer. Not sure if I am googling the correct thing but it is beginning to frustrate me now.

Can anyone tell me the rules on travelling with controlled drugs to Germany and what if any paperwork I need to take with me!

Usually a copy of the prescription and a letter signed by the GP (they may charge you) is accepted.

I'm on controlled painkillers and have travelled often to France, Spain, U.S and Caribbean. I carry them in original packaging ( with name/ date etc.sticker on box). I make sure they're in my hand bag and put it separately on the tray at scanner, with my phone etc. I always have a written prescription from doctor but have never been asked for it.

We have taken ADHD drugs to the US and Egypt - we take them in the original packaging, sealed if possible one direction (obviously not always possible), and in hand luggage, sent through scanners with toiletry type items.

We've never had anyone look at them. I've never mentioned they're controlled drugs, and nobody seems to take any notice.

We've travelled many times with drugs and syringes and not an eyelid has been batted. As everyone else says, put in hand luggage, in a clear bag, but we don't always have them in the outer box.
We have a doctor's letter but it's over 20 yrs old, so probably not worth the paper it's written on. All the drugs are listed on the NHS app, so I assume we'd just show that if asked (we don't have paper prescriptions any more).

I doubt Germany will be a problem, but some countries require prior approval from their health authority to bring in controlled drugs, even for prescribed personal use. Singapore, for example.
