Anyone been to Italy recently (mask question)

I’m travelling to Rome in a couple of weeks with my 12 and 16yos. Can anyone who has been recently tell me if I need FFP2 masks to fly, and if I will need them to get into restaurants/museums etc. I’ve just tried to book a guided tour of the Vatican museums and it said FFP2 masks are required but I’ve also read that mask requirements were dropped on June 15th so I was wondering if people are actually still wearing them. Annoyingly I have spare FFP3 masks but no FFP2s

No, you don’t need them to fly, or in museums, shops or restaurants, the only time I remember needing them was on public transport, they were very strict about it on the trains, the buses less so.

I was told that FFP2s were required for transit through the airport. I was at Lake Como and masks were needed to board ferries. Given to you for free if you didn’t have one. They were also needed in buses. This was about a month ago.

*Lake Garda. Not that it probably matters.

Flew to Italy and back at the start of June. You were not allowed to board a flight without a FFP2 mask but once there they weren't required.

Got back a few days ago from Rome and used the metro, bus and train as well as taxis - never wore a mask and no one asked me to. Lots of signs about them but little usage.

Thanks everyone

Flew back from Italy today, masks not required anywhere except public transport that crosses regions (not on international flights). A lot of Italians were wearing them everywhere, and FFP2 masks were available to buy everywhere v cheaply (10 for less than €5 from conad) and much easier to wear in warm weather than the surgical ones I wear for work here. We used them on public transport as most locals were and it seemed polite to as a tourist to their cities!

FFP2 masks are mandatory here in Italy until 30 Sept in the following situations, however as mentioned, most of us are starting to wear them again in indoor places and crowded areas:

Ships and ferries used for interregional transport services;

Trains used in interregional, Intercity, Intercity Night and High Speed passenger rail transport services;

Buses Private or public

School transport dedicated to primary, lower secondary and upper secondary school students.
