Stuck at Airport - Any Advice Welcome

Hello wise Mumsnetters, after some advice really please. We have had a lovely week in Mallorca, weather lovely, hotel fantastic etc, but we are now stuck trying to get home at Palma Airport. Flight from Doncaster / Sheffield and we were on the return leg. Outward has been cancelled, and we are being given no info at this end, other than flight expected some time after 6pm, it was supposed to be 11.10am.

I have rung Tui, they were supposed to call back an hour ago and haven't, and we have had a food voucher. The airport info staff just shrug and say they have no information.

Has anyone any advice as to how we can get some info, or what we can do to help ourselves in this situation?

Looks like G-TUKP/TOM5TD, DSA-OMI has just ( 1518 BST) started squawking (transmitting it’s assigned ATC code) and as a result as popped up Flightradar which means it should shortly taxi…

TheFairyCaravan · 10/07/2022 15:20

@Clariana there’s currently a plane on the ground at Doncaster Airport, getting ready to go to Palma, according to Flight Radar24.

Darn, meant to tag the OP in..many thanks.

If you are a package then the tour operator should organise overnight stays at hotels.

That's always happened when I've had overnight delays before. Once I was delayed by 21 hours!

We got dinner and breakfast that the hotel too!

Check the T and Cs

It’s on its way @Clariana. It’s just gone over my garden, so hopefully you’ll get home tonight.

@Clariana

Listens for sighs of possible relief..

Flight Airborne DSA 1530 BST..

Back of envelope guess follows:

It arrives PMI around 1800 BST (1900 local).

With turn around, departs PMI around 1900 BST, 2000 local…maybe a few minutes earlier.

Gets back into DSA around 2130 BST, plus or minus if no further delays.

Fingers crossed.

Ah, thanks people, you have been amazing, thanks for the flight info particularly, I am sure you will hear us breathe a sigh of relief all the way to the UK!

Yippee, just watching it fly over Wolverhampton right now! Really hoping they turn it around and send it back tonight, @Clariana

That certainly looks like the plan.

tribpot · 10/07/2022 17:59

The flight's landed in Palma so everything is crossed for you @Clariana !

notimagain · 10/07/2022 18:43

FWIW for those still interested the aircraft just popped up again (1840 BST) on Flightradar as TOM5DH for the return sector, so looks like they had a quickish turn, taxiing now.

tribpot · 10/07/2022 18:57

Hurrah! I hope the OP doesn't have work in the morning, this has been an epic travel day.

TheFairyCaravan · 10/07/2022 21:07

Welcome back @Clariana . I bet you’re all really tired after such a long day. I hope it’s not ruined your holiday, completely.
