Formal Holiday Wear (Kids / Adults)

We are staying at Bahia Fantasia Principe Tenerife for a week and the restaurant requires formal wear at the restaurants.

We usually stay in villas due to having a larger family and the fact we tend to go with other family members but this time it's just the six of us staying all inclusive with the ability to eat at the a la carte restaurants that require formal wear a few times a week so we would like to make the most of this.

From what I understand this means long pants for my partner, although he would prefer shorts. For myself I'm looking at dresses, unsure on footwear. For my twenty one year old similar, are sleeveless dresses ok, as this is usually what she would opt for.

For my four year old son he would usually opt for t shirt, shorts and trainers. Do rules apply for young children as he is slightly fussy on clothes, he does have shirts but would prefer a t shirt.

Think I have dresses / skirts, sandals suitable for my seven and ten year olds.

Just looking for advice as this is something we have never done before, my understanding may be way off!

I have never been to this hotel but have stayed similar places with this dress code and it essentially was no swimwear, beachwear or sportswear. Kids could wear what they wanted.

Yeah it basically what you would wear to eat out at home, it’s worded kinda fancy but literally means don’t peak yourself off the sun lounger in you cozzie and rock up for dinner.

shorts for men are fine, just not swim shorts

Peak = peal

Peal = peel, my brain is cooked in this heat 🤣

It probably means men in long trousers, everyone else in completely normal summer (but not pool/beach) clothes.

I would get DS a polo shirt rather than a Tshirt (having a collar takes it up a notch). Otherwise, everything you plan sounds fine.

For women's footwear I would suggest clean unscuffed espadrilles, nice sandals (not the active type) or even jewelled flipflops. MIL had a pair of gold sandals that went on every holiday with her for years!

I would usually look at the website of the hotel and see what people are wearing in the photos of the restaurants but for this hotel the pictures are of empty restaurants so it’s not helpful.

Someone on TripAdvisor said men must wear long trousers, someone else said tailored shorts are ok.

I was at a hotel in Gran Canaria recently. I took three long floaty dresses and wore flip flops with them. In my experience, dress code was not enforced but you have to assume it will be.
