How does this work?
23 month old needs a car seat here but what about overseas?
In Gran Canaria we are not hiring a car so dont NEED to take it - will there be one - do we need one???
All advice gratefully received
Thanks

Are you driving yourself to the airport? Have found most taxi companies a bit rubbish on the whole infant car seat question. However, finally found one that seemed to understand that parents may want their children safely secured and agreed the following. We would fit our own seat in the taxi taking us to the airport. The taxi driver would take the seat back to our home town and as we were only booking one way (used train to come back from airport) delivered it to a friends address in our home town. Had we been using them for the return we would obviously asked them to bring the seat when picking us up.

We were on a 'package' type holiday with transfer by coach and so did not use a child seat. We did hire a car with car-seat for a day's sightseeing. You may want to try and reserve this ahead if it is in your plans. Other than that we used local public transport but not taxis while away.

Legally you don't need one here but increasingly we've found larger cars/taxis have built-in boosters with harness.

Personally, I have allways taken one as I'd never forgive myself if something we were involved in an accident and DS wasn't in his seat or the borrowed one wasn't up to scratch.

Even now we take our own booster seat as I'd rather be safe than sorry - Though I know they are a drag to carry around.
