Vaccines for USA

Travelling to USA soon, myself and my husband have both had two covid vaccines, around the time we were supposed to have booster we caught covid. We were both fine with the covid and having felt I’ll after our second jab we decided we didn’t want to have anymore. My question is- will we be allowed in USA with just the two main jabs and no boosters?

Reading the link above - you need to get your boosters.

Horizons83 · 06/07/2022 08:09

No you do not need to have the booster. From the link above:

If you are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you will NOT be allowed to board a flight to the United States, unless you meet the criteria for an exception under the Proclamation and CDC’s Amended Order. A booster dose is not needed to meet this requirement.

Horizons83 · 06/07/2022 08:12

And in the FAQs

At this time, CDC’s Amended Order only requires that noncitizen nonimmigrants are fully vaccinated with the primary series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine to board a flight to the United States. A booster dose is not needed to meet this requirement.

Just get your boosters and be done with it. How soon are you flying? If in 6 weeks, the boosters should be clear enough in your system to give you a negative LFT.

Are you Fully Vaccinated for Air Travel to the United States?

You are considered fully vaccinated:

2 weeks (14 days) after your dose of an accepted single-dose vaccine
2 weeks (14 days) after your second dose of an accepted 2-dose series
2 weeks (14 days) after you received the full series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine (not placebo) in a clinical trial
2 weeks (14 days) after you received 2 doses of any “mix-and-match” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines administered at least 17 days apart*

If you don’t meet these requirements, you are NOT considered fully vaccinated. A booster dose is not needed to meet this requirement.

You will need to show proof of vaccination (like the NHS certificate showing both vaccinations) at check in before your onward travel.

Thanks everyone. Coincidentally we’ve now got covid! So couldn’t have the booster even if I decided to.

What do you mean, the boosters "should be clear"? Having a booster will not make a person test positive for Covid.

If you’re US citizens you don’t need to be vaccinated to enter the US. Visitors do, but boosters are not needed.

SunshinePie · 13/07/2022 02:04

You only need 2 normal vaccines. You do not need boosters (we flew to USA a week ago as UK tourists on ESTA’s).

Rickrollme · 13/07/2022 02:18

You won’t need a booster for travel but depending on the state you are visiting and what you plan to do there you may need to show proof of booster to do certain things or attend particular events. Check ahead to avoid disappointment.

We’re in New York at the moment - needed to have had two injections but not booster (DH, DD and I have had boosters but 18 year old DS has only had two injections and this was fine).

Bayleaf25 · 13/07/2022 15:24

@SunshinePie sorry to leap on the thread but did you do an online attestation? American Airlines sent me a link but I think I’ve completed it wrongly.

It said are you a US citizen or non citizen travelling on an approved visa (I ticked yes 😱) but I think an Esta isn’t actually a visa so I should have ticked no and entered all our vaccine details. I can’t get through to AA to get them to reset the link and no way to change my info. Gahhh do you think they’ll hall me to one side and not let me enter the country?? What a plum I am!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 13/07/2022 15:54

I completed a paper attestation form rather than doing this online because it needs to be signed.

You can print out of a copy of the US attestation form and give the American airlines check in agent the paper copy.
