Eurotunnel, 12 year old, unvaccinated, is a certificate of recovery valid instead of test

Hello
we are travelling to France this month. Myself and DP are fully vaccinated, but DD12 is not. Having researched the rules on the French government website it says that if she has had COVID in the last 6 months and can prove that then she doesn’t need a test. However, I’ve just been on the Eurotunnel website to see what documents you need to upload and it says if not vaccinated you need to upload your test results, and doesn’t seem to give the option to upload a recovery certificate. Does anyone have any experience of this ?
Thanks

Did you get a positive covid test from an NHS PCR test? And therefore is it recorded on the NHS app?

I was looking into this and I believe although the French government say you can have a recovery cert from within 6 months, it looks like it is only possible to prove this on the NHS app -so only if you had an NHS PCR, not lateral flow and not private test (even a private PCR). I would like someone to tell me I'm wrong though!

We flew to Corsica today and nobody mentioned covid once! No vaccination certificates were checked in either England or France and my friend had exactly the same experience

It's not very clear what sort of documentation you need to show for proof of recovery. The ambafrance website says you can upload proof of a postivie result of a PCR or antigen test between 11 days and 6 months old, but then underneath says that only results from a private testing company are accepted - although that might just be referring to pre-travel testing rather than proof of recovery. You might have to contact eurotunnel directly.

If they won't accept it, it's very easy to get one of the antigen tests done before she travels. This is what we did with my 12 year old. It only cost about £10, we ordered the test and carried it out at home then sent the picture. The certificate came through in about 10 minutes.

Not necessarily helpful, but I travelled to Belgium on eurostar last month. No one asked anyone (that I heard) for their covid vaccine certificate. Have a good trip

@Cheerfulcharlie Yes we had a NHS pcr so have managed to get a “Covid pass” via the NHS website (not the app - as you can only do this for 13y plus- who knew!).

Doesn’t look to be an option to provide this as evidence though.

On Eurotunnel you have no choice but to upload your documents before they will say you’re ok to board.

I know we can get a test, but ideally I will take away the stress/risk of this / not being able to travel in the event she’s positive.

@artisanbread can I ask which company you used for the antigen test?

Cheerfulcharlie · 04/07/2022 07:31

@FinallyGotAnIPhone I know what you mean. I’m going to contact Eurotunnel directly and will report back what they say but I’m thinking we will just get a test done anyway just in case as I think it will be more stressful not to!

artisanbread · 04/07/2022 07:48

I used this one Simply test me. I think I saw it recommended on MN.

bananatuna · 04/07/2022 08:15

We used alphabiolabs. Very quick and easy.

femmemara · 04/07/2022 08:17

We've been to France and Italy in the last month.

We were not asked for our covid passes coming or going.

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 04/07/2022 08:31

@Cheerfulcharlie oh yes please do! Yes I too am going to order a test.

@femmemara - did you take the Eurotunnel? It suggests you can’t board if you don’t upload all your evidence to their website in advance.

I have been looking at this too as we will be travelling later in the month- my reading of the Eurotunnel website is that you do no have to upload the Covid documents

Looking at this www.eurotunnel.com/uk/travelling-with-us/latest/covid-19/#foca it states "Prior to travel, you can upload the required documents detailed above to your booking by logging into your account/booking and completing your declarations. Failure to do so will result in manual checks being required which will delay your departure." - my interpretation of this is that as long as you have them available to check it doesnt matter whether you have uploaded or not.

@Bowowowo thanks. Don’t really want to chance it - will get a LF test the day before. Hopefully it will be negative!
We went to France at Easter (she was only 11 at this point) and it was chaos send for the first time in years we queued for ages at Folkestone - so I want to do anything I can to make the process as easy as possible.
Good luck everyone on your travels!
