Would love advice on a first world problem holiday dilemma. We’re booked to go to Spain at the start of the summer hols - all the talk of airport chaos, cancellations, queues, delays, plus all the red tape involved in travel and the rising covid numbers are making me very anxious about the whole thing on several levels. OH is leaning towards cancelling/deferring to next Spring. We have till end of this week before lose the option to cancel. Very worried but also desperate to get away after 2 years grounded by the pandemic and would leave a big hole in our summer plans. Any thoughts gratefully received x

We are in the same position. Covid rates going up and unvaccinated teen needs to have a clear pcr. That’s the most worrying for us. Also airport chaos and being stuck in an airport for hours. We are hoping it will all work out and won’t be cancelling but will be so upset if we don’t get to go. Haven’t been for years.

I flew a couple of weeks ago (BA/easyJet) and it was ok - 3 hour delay on the way home so not horrific. My friend traveling back to a different airport had a cancellation so had to spend an additional night abroad and they lost her luggage for a week, but I'd risk it for a holiday

Sorry you got ill - hope you still managed to enjoy being away

No - all independently booked, so we’d lose accommodation costs. Not covered by our insurance either

We flew over the jubilee bank holiday. Flights were delayed a couple of hours but we got there and had a wonderful time. Stanstead.

If I had my time again I would fork out the extra £25 each to sit in the private lounge with the complementary tea and coffee because the worst bit was how busy it got over the delays, finding somewhere to sit and having to buy overpriced drinks so if that’s an option for you I would 100% suggest you do it!
