Does anyone know if British Airways give compensation for cancelled flights?

Hello,

I'm flying to Canada in a couple of weeks from Heathrow with a couple of domestic flights tagged on to either end of the holiday from and to my nearest airport.
British airways have cancelled the domestic flight on the way. They offered a later flight, which I had no choice but to accept due to the car being at the domestic airport and because I didn't want to lug large cases across London to King's Cross after a long haul flight with two teens, but we now have an 8 hour layover at Heathrow (over 5 hours to what we should've had) and this is after a long haul overnight flight. We will be shattered!

Do they offer compensation for things like this? I was thinking of booking a hotel at Heathrow and travelling back the next day.

That should say they have cancelled the domestic flight on the way back!

Yes they have to pay compensation. There's more information here

You’re only eligible for compensation if they’ve given you less than two weeks notice, if more than two weeks you get nothing (as I’ve discovered recently when our flight was cancelled with more than two weeks notice and we’ve just had to suck up the additional costs).

Ah I read the original post wrong I thought you had an 8 hour delay, (it's early sorry!) I think @2catsand2kids is right because the situation is different if they've cancelled it beforehand so you might want to check.
