Denmark this summer

For various reasons we've had to put off booking a holiday for this summer yet, and now panicking it's too late.

I've seen cheapish flights to Denmark so wondering about building a holiday around this - maybe legoland for dc (6 and 8), plus some beachy areas. Seen Jutland and Funen both look nice. Ideally wanting somewhere sunny but not too hot as dc and dh dislike heat.

Anyone with recommendations in those areas? Is faaborg nice as a town? And are prices prohibitative once there? Aiming to self cater, budget ideally around 2.5 k for 10 ish days

Not sure about Faaborg but when I looked at Copenhagen accommodation the prices were astounding.

Just looked at Faaborg on Booking.com and there was only on place sleeping 4 which was about £200 a night.

If it is anything like Iceland the food and drink will be expensive too.

We drove to Denmark via tunnel, up through Germany and on ferry. Stayed a couple of nights in Copenhagen and then across to Jutland where we stayed in a house rented through inter home or similar. Beautiful beaches and very high quality. Eating out is pricy but we had bbqs at home. Driving back we stopped in Amsterdam for a night or two.Lovely holiday.

Watching with interest as we are considering taking the van over to Denmark this summer.....

I love Denmark and would definitely take my kids there. Copenhagen is a great city, Tivoli Gardens, Den Bla Planet (aquarium), boat tour around the city, the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde (you can go on the train or drive), Legoland, Aarhus is also a nice, small city with a young vibe. Whether you can do it for £2.5k I don't know - Denmark isn't a cheap place - but if you SC and drive around then maybe. Would depend on what your accommodation costs will be.

Faaborg is nice- we have stayed a couple of times nearby. You can easily do a daytrip to Aero from there, and there is also Egeskov castle for a day out. There is a viking ship grave near Kerteminde, which is also on the island of Funen. We weren't that fussed by Odense, but it was a long time ago.

Funen is well placed for getting to the other parts of Denmark, going over the bridges but be aware there is a toll on the bridge to Zeeland- Copenhagen. If you haven't got a car, you may find travelling to visit places hard away from the cities.

If you are self catering, then there is plenty of choices of supermarkets, discount and otherwise. The thing we found super expensive were nappies, but they won't matter for you! We found Denmark less expensive than Norway/Sweden.

The Danes head back to school around the 7th August, so you may find cheaper accommodation after this. Depending on what you want, a lot of Danish campsites have cabins you can hire like this 3300 kroner per week is about £400.

Where are you thinking of flying into? Billund airport is close to Legoland but Copenhagen is about 3 hours away and the train is expensive. Tickets for legoland are also fairly pricey unless you can find a discount. We are going in July but we have family there so we will stay with them about 40 mins from billund there's plenty to do near there though. We are also going to drive up the the Kattegat centre which is a big aquarium. Beaches are pretty nice.
Was 25 degrees at the weekend there so hopefully weather decent
