twins going to Barbados

We are taking our twins to Barbados in April. They will be 14 months. I am nervous of the jetlag - time difference is 5 hours. Can anyone give me any tips. They are sleeping well at the moment and am nervous to disrupt everything. Also, any tips on the 6-hour flight would be great too.

Cant help you with the jet lag as did long haul with 8 week old so wasnt sleeping anyway and the 5 year old just suffered same as us.

For the flight have a drink for take off and landing or something a bit chewy to eat, cereal bar or something, and have some new toys/books/colouring that they have never seen b4 to keep entertained (second set required for way home). Also if you can prevent sleep for a few hours pre flight they may sleep most of it 4 you.

The main thing i regretted on long haul was not paying for upgrade LO on lap in samll seat not great.

mine are quite a bit older, but have never had a problem on holidays. When they were smaller we only went as far as spain, but their routine was changed a lot, since instead of daytime being from 7-6 in spain our day runs more like 10am-11pm or later. They adapted fine but jsut needed an extra nap in the day. They've always been quite good at getting back into routine. The good thing was, even when they are small, they get that worn out on hol they do still sleep at night. We took them at about 8 mnhts, 20 mnths, and 32 mnths.
Xmas was there first long haul trip (they are now 2.9), also 5 hours difference. They were ok on the way out there - since gained the 5 hours. We jsut managed to keep them up until nighttime and they were off into normal holiday routine. It was a bit harder coming home as you lose 5 hours ( I think you are the same?) IT's been a week since we got back now and they are still a bit tired and playing up a bit in the evenings.

make sure you give them lots and lots of water - so they don't get dehydrated and headachy. Mine have always been fine with take offs, and pressure etc. They are entertained by looking out the window a lot of the time, and destroying in flight magazines! stickers are good entertainment, and crayons, etc. I agree with trying to get them to sleep too. We always fly very early in the morning so that they normally go back to sleep at some point. I agree too, at 14 mnths, it's worth paying for another seat, especially on long haul where there aren't likely to be any spare seats.
