EasyJet holiday from Gatwick - WWYD

We have a long awaited sun holiday booked for the school holidays with easyJet holidays flying from Gatwick. Balance of the holiday needs paying by end of this month.
So far I’ve only paid £250ish deposit, which I think we would get back as easyJet credit if we cancelled. We also have full holiday insurance which hopefully would cover us for any unexpected costs if we were disrupted.
I know there’s a lot to be said for the media stirring things up, but I’m really starting to worry about whether we will actually get there (or back) given all the recent issues. The kids are so excited (and to be honest so am I). It would be so disappointing and stressful if they cancelled us nearer the date or worse sat on the tarmac like some poor families have experienced.
That said, after Gatwick announced their most recent summer flight cancellations, ours look to be running as far as we can tell.
Would you be cautious, and cancel and book a uk holiday as a safe bet?
Or would you pay the balance and continue in good faith with EasyJet?

Just go ahead. Any cancellations should now be known in advance.

Logical part of my brain says you’re right but I guess this situation has never happened before where the entire airport industry is remobilising at pace to handle peak season. I’m half expecting to hit the summer peak and they say oh whoops we need to cancel more because we didn’t plan ahead to this extreme

I personally don't live my life like that, and I'm in exactly the same boat as you with an upcoming EasyJet holiday.
I would pay it off and then you'll get refunded if things go awry (EasyJet are very good with refunds, in my experience). But if you cancel and it goes ahead and you've a shit, overpriced holiday in the UK ... bummer!
Life's too short!
