Greek islands vs Menorca/Majorca

We’ve been to the Greek islands a lot and absolutely love them, but wondering about a change for next year.

Menorca and Majorca appeal, the beaches look beautiful and seems like we could do a similar holiday. We like to have a self catered place but be able to walk to the beach and restaurants for dinner, maybe a car to explore further.

Anyone familiar with both, how do they compare? Is there a similar relaxed feel in the Balearics? What are the differences (apart from obviously the food and language!!) are the beach areas more built up maybe?

If anyone has any specific Balearics recommendations with older primary kids (age 10 and 8) that would be fab.

Thanks!

Perhaps it's the location where I'm staying but I did a boat trip to Agos Nikolas and a couple of other places. We took a coach it was really long and then got on the boat. I wasn't impressed by the beaches. I'm sure there's lots of other gorgeous beaches.

The hotel for kids and the waterpark is definitely worth the stay it's new. The heat is dry here... my DS has even got a burnt nose and we are dark skinned so it's definitely hot here! It rained one afternoon... thank you.

Menorca is the most lovely zen amazing place. Punta prima is another good beach but there are so so many lovely places. Calm roads, friendly people, great food. Wish I was going there this year!

@Hollipolly we went to the other side of crete last month. Some nice beaches in the chania area.

I've been thinking about Menorca for next year myself, this thread has def helped make my decision. I'm leaving it for a while before I book though.

Menorca is just lovely. Various beach reports of different sizes, all fairly low key and very family orientated.

I love Greece, both mainland and the Islands as well.

The bus system, radio taxis and roads in Menorca are easy to navigate. Basically there is one main road that traverses the length of the island with roads feeding off it that take you to the villages and resorts. It’s easy to drive there.

Majorca has bigger resorts, some of which aren’t for me. Puerto Pollensa and Soller being more charming.

Oh I’ve seen the Ammos online, it does look nice! Thanks

Looks like need to see if I can find the equivalent in Menorca

We're going to Menorca for the first time at the end of the month, with Jet2holidays.

Seems OK, good reviews and the area looks nice.

We're going SC as we're only going for 4 days and will eat out at least once a day, either for lunch and then have bread/cheese, ham, crisps and olives on the terrace in the evening or otherwise have a big breakfast, go out for the day and just get a snack or a big ice cream and then eat out for dinner.
