Parent travelling with kids

Hello - my DH is taking our two kids abroad (France) alone later this year. We are (happily!) married so do I need to give any form of permission? Had a look online but can't figure it out!

Yes, you do.
Have a look on the gov UK website. He should take a letter giving your consent, marriage cert and birth certs.

He probably won't be asked, only samples are, but as a lone father travelling it is more likely (rightly or wrongly)
The letter can be very simple. "I RealityBites give permission for Mr Reality to take Junior Reality on holiday to X from Y to Z. Here's my phone number and passport details"

I think the level of checking has increased recently.

im a single parent and last 3 times have been asked - now my kids are older is easier as often just ask the kids their relationship to me. Have had to show birth certificates two times though. Guy in front of me had lots of problems as didn’t have any docs.

So much easier to take documentation. The times I have been stopped I've been very relieved to have a letter
