Anyone still booking with TUI for next year?

Flight times really good for us next year with TUI but I don't feel confident to book with them.
What's others' view on booking with them for next year?

I am thinking the same thing. I went with them this year without any issues however I'm delaying booking for next year atm. Totallly agree though, jet 2 flight times seem to be rubbish and I'm staying away from easyjet. I'll make a decision after the summer holidays.

rainbowandglitter · 13/06/2022 09:28

I was going to but I'm not now. Not really sure who to go for instead though.

LadyR77 · 13/06/2022 09:44

I was thinking about it, but am looking at going with Virgin instead now.

Nutrigrainygoodness · 13/06/2022 09:50

No I'll never book another holiday with TUI again.
They sent 1 email (in the middle of the night) to say the holiday had been cancelled and then carried on emailing and texting as normal. 5 days to go. Its the day of your flight etc. The app never updated to say the holiday was cancelled either.
So many people could have missed that cancelled email, and turned up to Manchester Airport in the middle of the night.

Yes. Book on a credit card and if they go bust, you'll get your money back. You may well do anyway as they are ATOL protected (I just don't know the ins and outs of that). I don't think they'll be going bust and if you're not going until next year, most current issues aren't likely to be ongoing to this extent.

Whammyyammy · 13/06/2022 13:22

The way tui have conducted themselves lately and during covid, I'll never use them again.
I have been using Jet2 without fault since 2021(4 eu trips)

travellifestyle · 13/06/2022 16:15

I'm an independent travel agent and I won't be booking TUI for any customers. There's been too many issues lately and not a great service. I do think they're on their way out (not starting rumours as it's just a feeling).

Obviously you don't know any firm will be safe to book with, but there are glaring issues with TUI currently. I'd steer clear.

KangarooKenny · 13/06/2022 16:18

No. Too many issues.

Iamthewombat · 13/06/2022 16:19

Are they really any worse than other tour operators? They are all vulnerable to e.g. airports having no baggage handlers available.

Hollyhead · 13/06/2022 16:22

Strongly considering it, we’ve just had a great experience at a great hotel over half term.

YouMadeABear · 13/06/2022 16:22

No. We were going to book with them for a holiday next Easter but we're going elsewhere now.

Headshothelp · 13/06/2022 16:36

I'm not. I'm not particularly worried about them going bust and I doubt the current issues will still be ongoing.

But I think they way they have treated current customers is disgusting. There are plenty of other options where I can spend my money, so I will do so. (I don't necessarily feel the need to always book a package holiday though, so I do have more options as a result)

maxybrown · 14/06/2022 06:12

I wouldn't. We have one booked for this summer and I'm already presuming it won't happen. We paid by credit card and only booked with them as they are the only one really that goes from our very small airport.

We have other issues with them too and I don't like the way they deal with things.

I can't see how they can survive of they have to keep refunding and compensating people.

swimmingincustard · 14/06/2022 06:57

No. They were really rubbish at the start of COVID with re-booking/refunds.... waiting for various 'vouchers' to be issued.

Issuing 20% vouchers but pushing prices up considerably more.

I just feel that handled it badly in comparison to other operators and won't book with them for that reason.

Palaceinwonderland · 14/06/2022 07:18

Yes, they are ABTA and ATOL protected. Family went to Turkey recently and had a fantastic time with no problems at all.

catwithflowers · 14/06/2022 07:37

My daughter and I are already booked to go on holiday with TUI next March 😬. They are ATOL protected so we will be covered for the cost of the holiday if they go bust and thankfully we are flying from our local airport.

We had huge issues with another company, Brittany Ferries, during the pandemic, similar to what another poster said here about TUI, cancellation emails sent at 3 am, no way of contacting anyone by phone or email as they closed down all lines of communication. We were stuck in Spain with the car and dog and ended up driving two days to get home after 4 ferries were cancelled. We would never use them again.

anniegun · 14/06/2022 07:40

They seem to have been the worst of all the large operators by a long way . Jet2 have managed things so much better. I am not sure why anyone would choose TUI until their customer service gets a lot better. Holidays are not meant to be stressful

ohidoliketobe · 14/06/2022 07:46

Nope, wouldnt touch them with a barge pole. Doesn't matter if they're ABTA/ ATOL, that'd no commiseration when you're at the boarding gate ready to depart and they send the police to read a statement that the flight is cancelled. The way they have managed the entire thing is dreadful. They knowingly had resource issues, continued to sell flights and holidays, and then issied a large scale cancellation at very short notice.

Bzzz · 14/06/2022 07:50

Having just returned from a tui holiday, including tui hotel, we are looking to rebook next year - no complaints at all about tui from our experience

StickyFingeredWeeNed · 14/06/2022 10:22

I’ve booked for summer 23. Absolutely no qualms about doing so - we’re flying from a tiny regional airport and they’ve got more than a year to get their staffing shit together.

would I book for next week flying out of Manchester or Gatwick? Probably not. Not because I don’t think I’d get my money back, but because it’d be a disappointing ball-ache.

EcoCustard · 15/06/2022 14:23

we had many a great Tui holiday but the way our cancelled holidays during the pandemic were handled and awaiting refunds or rebooking I won’t be booking with them in the foreseeable. To many issues.

Silkierabbit · 15/06/2022 19:31

We travelled with them in the past no issues and very good value. In pandemic I had booked directly with places and complete nightmare getting cash back, took a year and lots of chasing and never got last £500 back, well only in vouchers we can't use so insurance would not pay out. So I was veering to packages as ATOL protected but the shambles recently makes me nervous and I would wait to see how fair over the summer before booking anything.
