Holiday with teenagers?

We have three children aged 12, 15 and 17. We’re looking for a 5 day holiday break in the UK which will keep them busy. Son (12) has dyspraxia so quite most sporting activities are not enjoyable for him. We’re on a fairly limited budget of less around £1000 plus around £500 spending money. We can do most weeks during the summer hols. Where would you recommend?!

It depends so much on your family as individuals. When I was a teen, I just wanted somewhere warm, sunny, pretty, with a pool/beach and I was often happy lounging reading Harry Potter fanfiction a book, scrolling through twitter, or listening to podcasts. I did like a few excursions to local sights, cities, and museums, but compared to how I am now, as a teen I was very laid back about 'seeing the sights'. However, teens vary drastically, and some would be bored stiff with what 14 year old Summa thought was a good time! So for me, coastal Spain, Portugal, France would have fitted the bill.

Sorry, somehow completely missed the UK criteria! My reading comprehension clearly needs work. Liverpool has loads of interesting things to do, and is quite accessible from most parts of the UK.

A beach holiday somewhere with lots of rockpools and a sandy beach. Loads of places to choose from in Cornwall or South West Wales.

Norwich….? Cambridge? Some sort of city with museums and shops and nice parks etc to explore? Guess it depends what sort of things you’re into but we have one dc aged 10 and one 18 and we tend to do a lot of stuff like that so everyone gets to enjoy themselves. You could stay at Haven Caister or Haven Seashore on the coast in a nice 3 bed caravan and travel into Norwich. (We live in South Norfolk and often stay at Haven in the summer because we like it so much). If you want “posh” you could travel down to Southwold for the day from there.

Blackpool. There's so much to do there with the pleasure Beach, sandcastle water park, Tower, zoo etc etc

Where are you based and how far are you willing to travel? Do you want city break, rural, beach??

I'd go for Liverpool - lots of great museums / ferry cross the Mersey / trip to the beach / good shops / plenty of cool places to eat.

Agree with CeeJay. Never thought I would like Blackpool but it is great for my teen ds. He is dyspraxic which is possibly why he hates walking around. He also likes things to be planned so he knows what he will be doing that day.

In Blackpool the attractions are all easy to get to. Lots of fun things to do. But I do find Lytham St Annes better for food and the beach is lovely there too just not enough for my ds to do there.
