I haven't been to UK for a few years but am coming in July with DC (14 and 11) and we're trying to plan a short break to Copenhagen (none of us have ever been before).

Basic criteria are :
We'd rather pay a bit more for a decent hotel right in the centre than have to travel in
Hopefully be travelling from Stansted
Probably just 2-3 days

If anyone has any advice on the best companies to book through (or ones to avoid!) or any tips on cool stuff to do while we're there, I'd be super grateful.

Amazing! Thanks so much. I'll have a read. We can't wait to go, really looking forward to it.

My DD stayed at the Absalon Hotel and found it excellent. Has Designers Guild furnishings. Handy for many things and helpful staff. When we go (hopefully asap) we intend to stay there. It’s near the station which means easy access to the airport I believe.

We stayed in the Ibsen Hotel and loved it. Our room had a little reading nook down a couple of stairs with chairs and sheepskins. They had a happy hour with cheap drinks and snacks at the bar before dinner, and a fancy restaurant we ate in one night.

We had three days and walked pretty much everywhere. We went in early December and Tivoli Gardens were decorated beautifully. We also liked the Little Mermaid - she’s small but lovely.

Pretty much everyone we have told about our trip asked if we got the train to Malmo in Sweden, as there is a massively long bridge that links the two. We weren’t there for long enough but based on the number of people that mentioned it, it might be worth considering!

Enjoy!

I think that’s the famous bridge in The Bridge tv series. The Oresund bridge. It’s spectacular.

I was there last week but with toddlers!
Get a Copenhagen card and work through the booklet. Seriously. It’s a mixed bag of great places and the card gives you free transport in the city.

I stayed at the Andersen which is just over the road and owned by the same people. We went to the Absalon bar and it looked nice. It's in a central location close to the main railway station so very easy to get to places and the Tivoli gardens are close by.

On a previous visit we stayed at the Admiral but it was a bit overpriced (though an amazing breakfast).

The Round Tower is good and not too expensive to go up. Note that eating out is REALLY expensive. But it's worth it for me, it's a lovely city.

It is well worth getting the train over the bridge - Malmo isn't that exciting but for an extra half hour on the train you get to Lund which is a beautiful university city.

I went pre pandemic and stayed at the Copenhagen Island Hotel which was walking distance to most of the places I went. It was December so very festive and my absolute highlights were

Tivoli gardens
A cafe called Fleish
Best meal of my life in a restaurant called Host
National museum of Denmark
