would we be stupid to attempt a holiday to Greece at the end of August?

with all the holiday and flight cancellations, i've been wondering whether we bother going abroad this summer. We haven't been on a plane for about 9 years and we've looking at Greece, but worrying tang the current problems (over
half
term) will continue in to the summer holiday. Is it worth the stress? We've been looking at Stansted and avoiding Tui and Easyjet as they seem
to have the biggest issues currently!

We have Greece booked for the end of august. Booked it months ago before all the trouble started. Whether I’d book now though I’m no so sure. But if you want to them just go for it.

only 5% of EasyJet flights have been cancelled and they are the most affected.
I’d take those odds, especially as things are likely to improve over time.

If anyone knew the answer to this they'd be quids in but sadly no crystal ball can tell you what will be happening at the end of the summer

If I was forced to predict I'd say things will be better than they are now simply because there's more time to employ and train staff but I won't be putting any money on it

The cancellations I've heard of, non of them have been Greece. We went just before half term, came back in half term with no issues. Id avoid certain airports though.

I think if you'll be worried and stressed about it until August - don't, but if you can take the attitude that if it happens it happens and if it doesn't, that's OK then go for it. You'd hope a lot of it would be sorted out in three months time, and it's only a small percentage anyway.
It does seem better to book either a package or if you book a flight and hotel separately, then make sure that your hotel is fully refundable to cancel up to the last minute.
Jet2 seem to have fewer cancellations that TUI, and Ryanair seem to have fewer cancellations than Easyjet (from what I've read). Ryanairs issues seem to have been due to airport problems (so people missing flights as stuck in huge security queues/ air traffic control problems etc), rather than problems they have themselves.

We booked flights today, to Greece in August - hopefully going for 12nights. Am also booking a cheap Uk campsite for 5 days in case we don’t get to go!
