Blood in our Holiday Lodge

We are on a family holiday - lodges around a central leisure centre type place. Listed as a ‘5 star resort’.

The lodge is fine - not immaculate and a few things could do with updating. No big problem, a bit disappointing considering we paid £1k for the week, but the other facilities on site are great and it’s comfortable.

However I’ve just discovered the bed sheets on one of the kids beds has blood stains. I’m really freaked out/angry.

I’m going to ask to speak to a manager. What would you ask for/expect in this situation? Just an apology? Partial refund? More/less?

Crikey, PPs seem unbelievably tolerant of this revolting situation!
I would be cancelling my stay, leaving a zero stars rating online, and demanding a full refund. I’ve never encountered anything so gross in holiday accommodation. Bloodstained bedding? That is absolutely shocking, and a warning that hygiene standards are likely to be equally appalling in the bathroom and food preparation areas.

fucking grim. This is exactly the kind of reason I love our own holiday home and haven’t stayed in a hotel or self catering for five years. No one else’s sperm/blood/drool/vomit on my sheets/towels/sofas.

Why are so many just saying not to make a fuss. I would be furious and definitely a management issue. Not to get at the cleaner but so they understand their processes aren't working and for that it has to be someone who can do something about it. I would suggest something equal to about £50 in compensation. It is not high season so £1000 is not cheap and a visitor to 5 star resort is entitled to expect high standards. How they handle it will be telling.

I work in a busy elderly hospital ward and have to make quite a few beds a day, sometimes quickly before a new patient comes in. Sometimes the sheets from laundry have tea/coffee/blood/other stains on them. If I notice this I throw them and put un stained sheets on because it's not very nice.

NCTDN · 27/05/2022 18:38

How did you get on op?

LouLou1992 · 30/05/2022 15:34

It was a bit of a farce to be honest!
We kept finding things - used make up wipes behind the headboard, ripped sofa cushions, unwashed crockery…honestly the list is endless.

We tried to engage with the resort staff, but there was a limit to what they could do within the time we were there.

Then my daughter got viral croup and an eye infection and my son was badly cut due to a faulty mirror in one of the bedrooms.

We contacted the resort management who have given us a full refund.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and opinions!

Fucking hell, grim ! Glad you got a full refund!

Justkeeppedaling · 30/05/2022 15:40

Is that the lodge at the holiday site where they had a murder? The one that was all over the news last year. I think someone was murdered while they were sleeping

😉

Lolllllllllllll · 30/05/2022 18:31

That's good that they gave you a full refund.

BobbinHood · 30/05/2022 18:33

Freaked out? What is there to be scared of? It’s disgusting and I’d expect clean bedding and an apology, but it’s not scary ffs.

LouLou1992 · 30/05/2022 19:54

Maybe not scary to all, but to a family with a child who is immunosuppressed with additional physical needs (including requiring oxygen), it did ‘freak me out’.

Our first holiday as a family - ever. We were unable to go on holiday together because of my child’s needs and then covid, however my child’s condition has developed that local holidays are now possible.

We spent a long time researching where to go and picked this location on the promises stated on their website about their ‘superior hygiene standards’.

Apologies if my choice of words offended you, but perhaps think why this situation may have ‘freaked somebody out’ before replying.

’ffs’…

Just ask for clean sheets. Why does everything have to be about compensation. Many businesses are struggling to survive post covid

Ragwort · 30/05/2022 20:56

Darbs did you actually read the OP's previous comment, posted almost an hour before your comment.

I do despair on Mumsnet when no one can be bothered to properly read what the OP is saying.

Ah yes, I’ll think about all that information which was not contained in any of your posts on the thread. Got it.
