Places to stay and visit in BRISTOL

DH has family in Bristol and we usually do day visits on the odd occasion. We are about due a visit and though this time we might take a long weekend break, possibly in the Easter holidays. We will commit one of the days purely for family visiting and then the other 2'ish days we will spend on ourselves.
Can anyone recommend nice places (inc hotels/travel lodges to stay and things we can do with two girls aged 8 and 6 please?
TIA

Bristol Zoo, @Bristol, Noah's Ark Farm Zoo (owned by creationists ). SS Great Britain ... if you like boats. Clevedon, pretty Victorian sea side town, lovely pier not at all naff. Weston.. totally naff lots of kiss me quick hats but donkey rides etc. A bit further afield (but easily a day trip), Cheddar gorge and caves, Wookey Hole, Longleat

Deffo go the Clifton Suspension Bridge for a walk with the kids, there is a park next to it (small but nice with a wooded area and a small cliff for the kids to scale), then mosey on down to Bar Chocolat for hot chocs or Zizzis for pizza with the kids in Clifton Village.

Catch a ferry round the harbour and stop at the Buttery for a bite to eat (fairly near to the Industrial Museum which is unfortunatley shut), the SS Great Britian is near there which is quite interesting.

Clifton is a really nice area, with one big park just over the suspension bridge, Ashton Court, and another one nearby called the Downs. The Downs are great in good weather at the weekend for a bit of rollerblading, frisbee throwing etc. Not much fun in the rain though. There is a great hotel right by the suspension bridge called the Avon Gorge Hotel, it has good views....I stayed there before I had my DD so cant remember if it would/wouldnt be a nightmare with children, sorry. BTW I booked the room there using tripadvisor and saved loads of money....

We visited Bristol in December and stayed in the Novotel. Family room was huge and the breakfast was great - just need to watch the children don't eat too much as it's a continental style buffet and they didn't really know when to stop! Would also second Zizzi's in Clifton for a really nice meal.
